iCam Support / D-Link 920 Dissapointed...any suggestions?
« on: May 07, 2010, 09:33:12 PM »
Well I found a good deal on a couple D-Link 920's, ordered them and had them setup pretty quickly.
I have to admit though I'm VERY dissapointed with their ability to transmit video wirelessly (which is the whole F*$&#&g point of the wireless IP camera!!).
I have a Linksys WRT54GL (brand new just installed) which has DD-WRT on it so I could play will boosting my signal strength. I realize wireless G isnt as good as N or N+,N++ but its specifically sold as a Wireless-G camera so I figured it would be OK. WRONG!
Anyways this is partly me venting, and partly me asking for any suggestions and/or hear any similar stories or better reviews from people with this same setup.
I've tried adjusting frame rate, given static IP, opened ports, only ran one camera at a time, unhooked anything else that might be using bandwidth in my house, etc. etc. When its hard wired it works great, smooth fast video signal etc. but wirelessly its flat out choppy at best. Pretty much makes it useless as a wireless camera in my opinon.
SO any thoughts/suggestions?
Thanks for listening to my rant....cheers!
