thanks Stefan, you are very quick at responding, i did everything you suggested and i have the same results. one quick note, i do have Microsoft Security Essentials installed...

i reinstalled the VC++ Redistributable and then ran windows update, and it in fact found an update for the VC++ Redistributable. I updated, then i installed icamsource, and restarted, and it still crashes before loading. is there a crash log of some kind in windows?

same problem here, windows 7 64 bit, i made sure dotnet is running and vcredist_x86...
