iCam Support / Unknown Camera on my iCam display
« on: December 05, 2011, 08:37:12 AM »
Yesterday morning I opened up iCam on my iPhone 4 and noticed something a bit suspicious, a camera I did not know nor could ever recognize.

Is there a way to tell what camera is being displayed if you don't know what it is or where it's coming from? All other cameras on my display were accounted for and I've not attached any new ones recently. I'm kind of at a loss for knowing where this one particular camera is coming from and no one else knows my username/password for my iCam setup.

There is no crash log for it.  I guess the crash only happened once, though I don't really leave it running because it stops working after an hour any way.

However, I can say that I *AM* seeing this same issue. I'll email you the crash report as you requested the other user to do above.

With Preferences open I am at about 15%, with Preferences NOT open but iCamSource just running in the background it's about 4%.

Thank you for your post.

Does it work fine if you only run the Foscam in iCamSource?

Something I had done last night seemed to fix the frozen image issue I had. As best I can tell, assigning a new static IP on the network might have been what solved the problem.

Additionally, forcing the port forwarding through iCamSource also seemed to fix my original port forwarding problem. I suspect that because I was originally just trying to point to the web interface for the Foscam cameras it wasn't seeing constant activity on the port. Now that the iCamSource is running on that port there is constant traffic and so the port is properly seen as open now.

the one thing I am seeing as an issue currently is the ability to control the PTZ functions of my Foscam via iCam.

Here are the steps to set it up:

1) Plug in the power for the camera and connect it to your wireless router
2) Open up the "IP Camera Tool" to get the IP of your camera
3) Open up an internet browser and type in http://"IP from previous step"
4) The login is "admin" and there isn't a password.
5) Now you can set up your camera preferences.  The important part is to set up the wireless.  Hit "scan" to find your network and enter your password for the network. (I had to hit scan twice for it to work)
6) Once you hit "Submit" your camera will need to reset (30 seconds)

You can leave your camera plugged in directly or you can unplug it and move it to wherever you want.  ***Remember that if you choose to use it wirelessly, it will re-identify the IP to the next available number. For example - Hard wired into the router it was 0.0.0.20; wireless it is now 0.0.0.21.  You can can always run the "IP Camera Tool'

Now start iCam and choose "Ethernet/Wifi".  For your address plug in "http://"IP found above"/video.cgi.  Your login on the next line is the same as your login into the camera.  If you didn't set a password then your login is "admin" and password is blank.  Also set the "Auto Config Router" button.

Start em up and it should work flawlessly!  I have 3 wireless Foscams running without an issue!

You guys at iCam are doing a great job! Keep it up! I'm not freaking out anymore about whether or not I closed my garage doors!

Close to same situation here but now I wish I could get the dang thing to work over port forwarding in order to access the cameras via the web.

I have a simular issue with my F18918W Foscam camera. Over Wifi I can see it on my Mac though iCamSource and the picture/FPS looks great. But when I try to access it via my iPhone and the iCam software (both on the wifi network and on 3G all I see is a still image that was the last image seen when I switched from my iSight to the Wireless Foscam through iCamSource.

Any idea why this wouldn't transmit to my iPhone but still works via iCamSource?

And on a side note, anyone have thoughts as to why when I try to open a port through my Wifi router that ALL port scanning websites say it's closed? I'm using a Linksys WRT150N router with port forwarding turned on for that specific port.

How do you tell it where to save the recorded images/video to and where does it store them by default on a PC?

Much better, got the updated files for Java and still no love. But this time I am pretty sure it's our corporate firewall.

Broker Connection Error

Your network may be preventing you from making
a UDP connection to the iCam Broker Server
.

I'll check again on this same laptop form home tonight.

I will check my Java version when I get to the office this morning. I know I have it installed for sure, I use it for internal apps myself daily. I did not get any confirmation requests though so maybe I need an update.

I'll reply once I double check the version.

I'm not sure how to check the version but maybe you somehow got 1.3 again? Interesting problem though, hopefully someone has a solution for you.

1.3 is now love on the App Store!

I just downloaded it and the motion capture options are on the top of the screen when you single tab a full screen view.

I'm new to your software (and I LOVE IT!) and I just found the Web Viewer access. I co not currently see any of my 3 cams I have running and was wondering if maybe my corporate firewall (we're decently locked down) would maybe have anything to do with that?

I see the ads and the "Connecting ..." text but that's about it.
