There are a number of IP cameras you can buy online that have lens that can be changed. If you buy a lens alone or IP camera with a lens that is meant to view 3-4 meters you should be able to see the digits well. Use iCAM via android phone or iPad you have to see it remotely.  I have to ask what information do you want to know, if the temperature of the glass has fully melted and is ready to work? There are other ways to do this. You could have bell ring when it reaches a setpoint or similar idea.
