iCam Support / Problem with iCam servers?
« on: August 02, 2013, 03:58:43 PM »
I've had various stretches of time today where I could not connect to my iCam server (broker error).  When I would try to go to skjm.com, the domain also seemed to be unavailable.  Were there some outages today?  Is there a way to verify in the future if it's a problem on your end or mine?

If you want a decent surveillance system, get some IP-based cameras instead of trying to mess around with USB web-cams and hubs

Just because it's not the most requested - if an analysis is done, and it's relatively easy to implement - why not do it?

When I first installed CamSource (2.5) on my iMac (running 10.7.4) and was messing with it a little it was fine, then I closed the main window (app still running in the menu bar) - a while later I noticed CPU meter pegged.  Opened Activity Monitor and CamSource was using 90% CPU (motion detection was not on).  So I quit CamSource all together and re-started it.  When it's just sitting in the menu bar it's fine and when in the menu bar and cams are started I haven't seen a repeat of the high CPU use so far.

I haven't read it all, but maybe this will help?  www. tuaw. com/2011/10/12/ios-5-features-custom-notification-sounds-and-alerts-now-availa/

PS - take out the spaces....for some reason you can't post links on this forum

Excellent - thanks for pointing out that setting....do you have a "user manual" or place where we can download all the support pages at once?

To add to this it'd be nice to set some "global" iCam Source settings.  We have 6 cameras and to start motion detection and record on a schedule you have to go to each camera and set the same settings six times.  It'd be nice if the default was to apply those settings to all cameras and if you wanted to change one individually you could by going into the settings for that one camera.

Hopefully gets implemented soon....it's a handy feature on the Windows version and doesn't seem like it should be that difficult to implement (but what do I know).

iCam Support / iCam Source Mac - no camera names in preferences left column
« on: September 29, 2012, 08:34:50 AM »
I'm new to iCam and set up iCam Source on an iMac running 10.7.4 and a PC running Win7 on my home network.  I notice in the preference panel for the PC the left hand (cameras) column shows the camera name as typed into the bar above the video preview window, but on the Mac the left side cameras column always says "- Camera" and I don't see any way to change it.  It gets bad when you have 6 cameras and they're all listed as - Camera, but on the PC they have their proper names "Living Room" "Porch", etc.  Am I doing something wrong or is this a limitation of the Mac version?
