iCam Support / Re: iCam Source crash/gets stuck?

I have sent the screenshot to the address noted above.

The thing is, we don't care about motion detection at all.  We are using the webcam as a baby monitor and only want to be able to see the image, which is why it's set to "better image quality".  Is that the reason it's crashing?  Am I misunderstanding the setting?

The motion detection has always been disabled.  The slider is set so the image quality is max'ed.
I will try to take a screenshot of the settings today and email it.
Sorry about starting a new thread.  It was actually working without crashing for a couple weeks before it started up again, so I wasn't sure it was really the same thing.

I've kind of already been through this on another thread - should I repost to that thread versus opening this new one?  It didn't seem like the same issue until I got the crash.

Used the device manager to check the camera (VIMICRO USB PC CAMERA V) which says that the driver is also up to date.
Not sure if there is anything else I can do... but it did crash again this morning with the same error.

And the actual camera is a Kinamax WCM-NV13 6-LED Infrared Night-Vision 1.3 MP USB 2.0 Webcam with Audio Microphone - my husband says it's pretty old (3+ years?) so not sure if maybe that is the problem?

The camera is running on an IBM T40 laptop
Windows XP Pro version 2002 SP 3
1600 MHz Intel Pentium Processor, 1.59 GHz 1.50 GB RAM

There is only one camera associated with the laptop and actually the laptop is dedicated ONLY to running the camera and the iCam software - nothing else is ever running on the machine.

We use it as a baby monitor, so it's really sad for me when it goes out!!

iCam Support / iCam Source crash/gets stuck?
« on: October 16, 2012, 10:02:15 AM »
I haven't had many problems after going through some troubleshooting on another thread, but recently, the iCam source seems to get stuck - it looks like it's still broadcasting on the laptop, but nothing comes through on iPhone, iPad, web - they all give "no sources found" error.
If I hit the Stop button, then start it again, it works fine for a while and then will do the same thing.  This happens maybe once or twice a day.
I'm wondering if maybe there is a connectivity issue?  The wifi seems to be working everywhere else in the house just fine though, but I notice that sometimes when I'm in the room where the laptop/webcam is running, my iPhone will switch to 3G and then back to wifi, so not sure if that is maybe affecting the camera broadcasting?

Today, I did get a crash error - so I had to restart the whole iCam.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

The CPU usage is only 25% and we already have the camera set to "best image quality", which I think is what you mean by turning off motion detection?
It actually seems to be working better after the reinstallation - now it's been 24 hours and it is still running, so maybe it is better?  Thanks for all the help.

Thanks for helping me out with this:

1600 MHz Intel Pentium Processor, 1.59 GHz 1.50 GB RAM

Thanks yes, it's already running version 2.5, but I uninstalled and reinstalled to be sure.

Ok - rechecked windows, it is fully up to date.

The camera is plugged directly into the laptop.  The laptop is used soley for running iCamSource - so no one uses it for anything else like Skype etc.
I did already run the Windows update check, but I'll try again to be sure and I'll check the camera drivers, which I hadn't done.

This is the error I got the other day when it crashed.

Unhandled exception has occurred in your aplication.  If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.  If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.  Object is currently in use elsewhere.

Registry key clearing didn't work.
I still got some kind of application exception.  I will have to copy it and post it here.
Not sure what else I can do, but the crashing happens almost every day, making this mama sad that she can't keep an eye on the baby while she works!

Thanks so much for the quick reply!
I will give that a try.  I already had made sure my Windows and .net and C++ were both updated - I ran those last week after finding this thread via a google search.

I'll try the registry key clearing. Thanks!

I've been having this same problem lately.
I'm on a PC with Windows XP and a USB webcam.
I've updated using the 2 links in the above message and the iCam is still randomly stopping giving me a .net error that requires me to quit the application and restart it.
Once I restart the application, it works fine.

I'm just trying to figure out how to get it to run consistently because we now rely on it so much to watch our baby while she sleeps!
