for FI8904W
http://your ip address/pda.cgi?page=image&cam=1&user=your user name&password=your password

for FI8908W
http://your ip address/snapshot.cgi

Many thanks for your quick reply..
ok the stale icam sources make sense.. I have checked the camera sources and they are fine not timing out..the computer is also fine running  icamsource with three cams is using only 11% of the processor using an intel 2 quad  Q9400 @ 2.66ghz with a full stack of memory in a 64 bit enviroment I don't have no issues there at all..
I have been a user of icam for a long time now and have been a beta tester for previous versions at this moment in time I have reverted back to the icamsource 1.4.2 which is working fine no issues for me and my current setup..
many thanks

Hi g0sbv,

You are using a camera which I'm already looking at buying for use with iCamSource/iCam.

But I'm new to all this and learning as I go along.

I was wondering if you could go through the setup and how exactly iCamSource picks up these camera's, I thought they would need to be physically connected to the PC? (as my current webcam)
Do you need to use the software that comes with the camera?

Thanks

Sorry so late in replying as I have been away on holiday..
yes you need to install the software that comes with it and get the camera up and running first with a ethernet connection then switch it over to wifi in the software that way then all you need to do is set the icamsource  to Ethernet/wifi and add in                 http://your camera ip address/pda.cgi?page=image&cam=1&user=name&password=name
its quite simple really

Hi Stefan been a while since we last spoke.... I have installed the new source version and am pleased to confirm that I now have audio on my logitech cam..a couple of other things I have come across while testing for audio is the screen sometimes shows six windows and the only way that I can revert to three is shut down the app and reopen I have tried refreshing the window and going to info and back but that does not work see attached images..

now the other thing is I now have to use autoconfig even though I still have the router set to port forward from using the previous version (1200 to 12100) which is not an issue providing it is stable as the last hour or so I have had the no sources found error at times and have had to revert to changing the autoconfig off to get pictures and after a while again the no sources found error and have had to again turn on autoconfig to get the pictures back sometimes showing six screens..

Ricky

just as I am typing this I stopped the source as its been running ok for a while restarted it and get

doesn't seem to be any consistency in it.. will delve some more..

the icam webpage viewer now thinks I have quote "Num Sources : 4" and shows two..
on the iphone I am still getting the no sources found..

update I am now getting two cams on my iphone but no Logitech cant seem to get any consistent problem just keeps varying to track it down

ok last edit got to get some food..
reboot computer run source works fine
stop source wait a couple of mins and restart no pictures or only two logitech always is the one missing..
close source down completely and wait a few mins
start source again all three cams show but total of six screens on iphone
close app and reopen again back to normal all cameras showing in four screens total
and now have nine screens ..with the three pictures..

Hi Guys I have installed the beta 2.0 for windows and have it working on three cams so far so good:

cam1:Foscam F18908W
cam2:icamview
cam3:Logitech Quickcam Pro 400 usb

using icam 1.3.1

the only issue I have so far is I have no audio on the Logitech usb cam despite selecting the Logitech Microphone is the settings for that camera in the previous versions audio worked fine on this camera

I'm considering buying a camera for security, but I would like to mount it on the outside building. It didn't look like the WIFI cameras could go outside - is there an easy way to do this with a wired webcam ?
I use one of these and it works fine outdoors

Stefan,

its great to have ip camera recommendations on your site but i could only find one camera that was available in the uk ie the Wireless-N Internet Home Monitoring Camera (WVC80N).  Now that I have my web cam fully functioning with your latest new software and can access over 3g following a push notification on my iphone 3gs, i want to do more.
I cannot seem to find a retailer in the uk for SkyIPCam747W which was on your list and has pan and tilt (it looks great i would like to buy one or even a PTZ.)

Two questions, (sorry, still a bit of a newbie so anyone feel free to step in here with your advice !)

I am using a basic webcam now, if i buy a PTZ ip cam will i be able to Pan and tilt with my iphone via icam (or PTZ)

Does icam support foscam cameras e.g. Foscam FI8908W IP The camera says it has Image compression MJPEG so i assume it will be ok..

king regards

Noddy

The  Foscam FI8908W is a great camera it works fine with icam use http://your ip address/snapshot.cgi in icam source

You may think you have all the answers covered here in your little forum but to just delete questions because you think they have been answered or they're stupid is just wrong. Shame on you and you never did tell me why it worked and then stopped.  If it was one of these problems already covered it would never have worked. Its junk and im telling the world on utube. One of these days someone is going to figure out hoe to sue someone for false advertisement. Lets see how fast you delete this one.

What would be nice is the ability to send a magic packet from icam app on the iphone and be able to issue a shut down command also from the icam app to the source to shut down the computer..

I use logmein ignition..I have my pc set up so I can wake on lan from my iphone anywhere then run logmein on the iphone so I can control my pc and click on the startcam batch file which runs my three sources when I have finished I shut pc down again remotely..
