Yes, we are looking into different ways to include h.264 support in iCam without running up against the licensing issues associated with decoding / encoding h.264 in software.

A couple of days ago I wrote the support address about some Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I cameras I recently bought.  I got a pretty nonsensical reply and was scratching my head and remembered some previous discussion about lack of h.264 support.  Reference the OP on this thread and your reply, the fact that pretty much the industry standard is going to IP and h.264 for bandwidth management and JPEG/MJPEG is kind of dying off:

• Can you provide us anything specific about what you are doing to get h.264 adaptation into your product line?
• When specifically (Later this month?  Later this year?  It is a goal but you are not actually making any progress?) should we anticipate some solid information on this?

Your products have previously been leading edge and I have used them for years with great admiration for your efforts.  I am hoping you are not resting on your laurels, but are continuing to develop and advance your product line.

iCam Support / Notification Threshold Question

I am a long-time user of iCam and only just noticed something I find odd.  When I go to the "Motion Detection" tab some of the cameras have "Notification Threshold" and some do not.  I would like to have that be an adjustable setting for each camera.  Why do some tabs display it and others do not, all within the same iCam instance and using identical cameras?

What is the location on a Windows 7 machine? 

EDITED: I read the sticky about where the pictures are located and that is not what I need.  I need the location of the configuration files.  I have a new computer I would like to transfer iCam Source to.  It would save me a lot of keystrokes if I could just copy some configuration files from the old Windows XP machine to the new Windows 7 machine.

I have an array of ten various manufacturers wireless cameras that have night vision and as Stefan indicated only the AirLink 777 and 747 LED's don't glow pretty brightly.  You will have lots more options for night vision capable cameras when you get away from wireless, but they also usually don't have web servers built into them as they are commercial grade and intended to be used with a security DVR complicating your job.

IR illuminators widely used in the civilian sector typically operate in the 850-880nm range or 940nm.  The ones that are almost invisible are in the 940nm spectrum.  If you simply must not have a glow, you will have to order a camera that does not have built in IR illuminators or following the details above get one that uses 940nm illuminators.  If you get one that has built in IR illuminators you will want to ensure they can be turned on and off somehow.  The AirLink cameras mentioned above allow you to turn them off in their firmware, buy not all night vision cameras give you the option.  Then you will want to order a 940nm illuminator and see if that combination of camera and external illuminator works and suits you.  All I know of are 12v so you will need to find one that either has a transformer that comes with it, or get the correct transformer from a retail source and attach it to the illuminator so you can plug it into an AC outlet.

Personally, for viewing a child's crib this seems like a lot of work.  If you are looking for covert security camera capability with IR illumination as an option, that is beyond the scope of my reply.
