iCam Support / Looking for a true IR usb/wifi camera...
« on: October 06, 2009, 11:46:52 AM »
I've been researching this like mad and even made a purchase which I returned. Can anyone suggest a good camera to use in near/total darkness to be used as a baby monitor? I want an IR Night Vision camera that emits zero or NEAR ZERO visible light (ie I don't want to shine a bright LED on my baby's face all night long). The camera I bought claimed this but was basically a usb camera with bright white LEDs which is ridiculous. How they market this as infrared I don't know.
I'm preferably looking for a USB (TRUE nightvision) camera with USB audio, as I have a laptop in the room. My price range is preferrably <$200 US.
My end game if this doesn't exist is to buy an IR array and remove the IR filter from a cheapo webcam, but I'd rather get something a little more less hacked. The other thought was an older Sony camcorder with nightshot and connect it via DV/firewire to the laptop. Thoughts?? Surely someone else has done something like this or can recommend a good brand/model to look at??? Remember the key is ZERO visible light emitted from the camera! I don't need super picture quality...
Thanks
