iCam Support / Motion Zones for push?
« on: August 09, 2009, 09:31:21 AM »
I enabled the push notifications as soon as they were available...however, even at the lowest sensitivity, I get too many alerts. What I'd like to request are two things, both separately or together may be helpful...

1) Zoned motion detection: most good IP cams offer this internally, it would be great to see iCamSource support this. Then I'll only get alerts where there is motion happening in a particular part of the frame that I KNOW is worth investigating.

2) An option for lesser/delayed sensitivity: I'd like to see a way to offer "send push after xx seconds of motion". That would reduce the number of false alerts...or having lesser sensitivity that only alerted to heavy movement in the frame...

Thanks, overall I'm pretty pleased with the app. Even though the PQ is worlds better when I access the cams from MobileSafari, iCam is a bit quicker to get in/out of.

I'm having equal success with Axis and Vivotek cams, both are high quality, and both on a Mac. The Vivotek is actually a CCD cam, the Axis a CMOS, but still pretty good.

I'd Like to add that the Vivotek 715x series of IP Cams also work with the Mac.

iCam Support / Re: Pretty slow video / audio rate over 3G

I would like to express the desire for SKJM to look into more advanced compression techniques. If there is no way to slowly increase the performance of the app, try to compress the video further. Take advantage of hardware H.264 if you can. I am quite happy with the ability of the app, but its painfully obvious how restricted the video is. I can pull up the webpage of my cams and see it streamed quickly and smoothly even over 3G. The only problem with this is that I have to remember to close the page or I'll run my battery down (due to the 3GS's improved memory, the page stays active even when not in Mobile Safari)

no.

I believe most, esp. ones that support 3GPP profiles, use a GSM codec for audio.

Hello,

I have an Axis 207W that I'm using with iCamSource on the Mac. I have a few questions:

1) Is there support coming for audio streaming from IP cams? I am happy with iCam but I really want to be able to hear from my Axis cam.

2) If not, or in the meantime, can you enable us to select a different audio source for the IP cam? At least I could use the audio from my computer to go along with the video from my IP cam.

3) I'm assuming the poor refresh rate (even when viewed on computer) is because this is a java app, will performance be improved upon?

Thanks!

Just go through the process of buying it again. You'll get a pop up that says since you've already purchased it, you can download again for free. Its not the most intuitive way, but Apple hasn't changed it yet.
