To add to the above - is this because this cam is H. 264 maybe?

Has anyone managed to get a Foscam FI9820W working with pan/tilt? Just bought one for the office after telling everyone how wonderful iCam is, now pan tilt is not working!
The video stream is working with http://192.168.1.x/tmpfs/auto.jpg 3
iCam Support / Re: Troubleshooting 101 - iCam & iCamSource Error Messages« on: July 28, 2011, 04:01:05 PM »
I keep getting an "icamsource.exe has stopped working" error message - the application dies and needs to be restarted. Here's what I know about the problem:
Windows 7 on a clean install PC that does nothing but run icamsource (latest version). 2GB memory, dual 2.4GHz proc. 3 cameras: - Logitech pro for notebooks - Maygion IP camera (MJPEG) - Foscam IP camera (MJPEG) - It's intermittent. I can go for several days without a problem, but after it's happened once it will keep happening until I reboot, or clean out the registry and reconfigure icamsource. - The error is triggered by me being in the iphone app - at startup, or at any point while I'm using it. Error detail says: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BEX Application Name: iCamSource.exe Application Version: 0.0.0.0 Application Timestamp: 4ddd3d03 Fault Module Name: MSVCR90.dll Fault Module Version: 9.0.30729.4940 Fault Module Timestamp: 4ca2ef57 Exception Offset: 0006ccb5 Exception Code: c0000417 Exception Data: 00000000 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48 Locale ID: 5129 Additional Information 1: 49c8 Additional Information 2: 49c8fdd11791bdfaeddb92b290a0a226 Additional Information 3: a7a0 Additional Information 4: a7a0ad0bcf17eddbb81067e5acc2f077 I've lived with this for some months, but really need to get it sorted. Any ideas? 4
iCam Support / Re: False Notifications« on: May 17, 2011, 07:44:38 PM »
This has come up as a problem and feature request a number of times before so if I may take this opportunity to put in a bid for enhancement in this area...
I get 1-frame event notifications a lot - especially if it's windy, cloudy days with sun breaks, and at sunrise/sunset when the light is shifting. This is my single biggest issue with what is in most regards a great product for a very cheap price. Please, please.... give us a setting that makes it possible to suppress 1 (or 2,3) frame alerts. 5
iCam Support / Recording while watching on iPhone« on: May 17, 2011, 07:38:41 PM »
Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems that if you're watching iCam live on your phone then motion events don't get recorded - is that right, and if so is it configurable?
The scenario where I would really want it to record, even if I was watching live would be if I was watching a burglary in action, having been alerted. Thanks 6

Yes it is an awesome app - I've experimented with several other competitor apps over the last few weeks including WebcamXP, Webcam 7, GoToCamera, and keep coming back to iCam/iCamSource for its simplicity and great iPhone integration.
I'm running two chinese Foscam IP camera clones and a Logitech Pro for Notebooks webcam on a dedicated Win7 PC, also using Dropbox for file syncing, TeamViewer for remote access and an iPhone app called "Wake" for wake on LAN and after some tinkering with network settings the setup seems to be running pretty solid now. These single image alerts are the only annoyance... 7
iCam Support / Re: Only seeing one cam feed via iPhone on work wifi« on: February 03, 2011, 01:55:51 PM »
Just to close this out - I finally got around to testing on work WIFI again - I get all three cams no problem. It's been a couple of weeks since I had the problem and started this thread so I can't be 100% sure it's working because of the port forwarding (something else could have changed in the network here).

iCam Support / Re: Feature Request re: Motion Detection« on: February 03, 2011, 01:52:37 PM »
Plus one to this request.
90% of my motion alerts are single images and every single image alert has been (in my experience) a false alarm - a moth flying past an IR camera, a truck passing on the distant highway, etc. My 'real' motion events are usually 10+ images. I tried turning the sensitivity down and down to a level where it's not detecting all that I would want it to, but doesn't seem to stop these single image events. Please can you put on your features list a setting to either: a) Set the minimum number of images for a motion event (i.e. no capture of the images) b) Set the minimum number of images for a motion event to be push notified (i.e. images captured but not notified) I would be happy with either option. 9

Old topic, but for the benefit of anyone else having this problem with Windows Server 2008... You need to enable/install "Desktop Features" (done via the Server Manager, under Admin Tools). This problem appears to be only for Logitech webcams, but maybe others too. I needed an extra reboot after installing it before iCamSource could pick up the feed.

I have set up port forwarding following the guide instructions (well written and easy to follow, thank you).
I think I have always seen the message "Connecting..." on the menu bar although all seemed to still work so hadn't worried about it. Now with port forwarding set up it's showing as "connected to server". I'll see how it goes at work tomorrow. Thanks again for your help. 11

Enabling auto-config makes a difference alright - it results in a "no sources found" error on the iPhone app. I've gone back to having it unchecked.

I haven't had auto-config enabled so will check that and see if it makes a difference.
There's no uPNP option in my router config, but the specs of it say it is supported. The router is part of my DSL package so I suspect the telco has dumbed down the available options. If there was any problem with that though surely it would be apparent over 3G as well as any other external connection? I'll try accessing it from other wireless networks when I get a chance, if it works fine from everywhere except work then we'll know the problem is there. Event notifications come through OK and I know I can always switch to 3G to see the cams so I'm not going to put too much more effort into solving this. Thanks for the suggestions guys. 13

Hi, Couldn't find any reference to this specific problem in the troubleshooting or other forum posts.
iCamSource is running at home on a Win7 PC with two webcams plugged directly into the PC (both Logitech USB). I haven't made any network configuration changes. I'm using an iPhone 4 IOS4.2.1 Logging into the iPhone app: 1. At home on my home wifi network I see both cam feeds always (no problem) 2. Away from home on 3G I see both cam feeds always (no problem) 3. At work, on our office WIFI network one of three things happens when I start the iPhone app (problem): a) Source Connection Error - One or more of the iCamSources returned by the iCam Broker Server could not be connected to. No video feeds displayed. b) Camera #1 feed is displayed, then I get the same source connection error. Camera 1 continues to display after I click OK on the error c) Camera #2 feed is displayed, then source connection error. I never see both camera feeds when connected via the at Work WIFI network. If I turn off WIFI access on the iPhone and access iCam via 3G it immediately works fine. If I click refresh in the iPhone app one of the three scenarios will happen (same as if I restert the app). Motion detection events are reported OK. I don't see any pattern for which of the three scenarios will happen when on the work WIFI network. The most common is (a), then (b) then (c). I've tried rebooting the PC and my iPhone and get the same behaviour. Any suggestions on possible cause or troubleshooting steps? Cheers Don 14
iCam Support / Re: Feature request: include camera start/stop in schedule« on: January 11, 2011, 09:06:50 PM »
I created a forum account to add another vote for this feature
I don't come and go on a schedule and sometimes leave the house forgetting to turn on iCam. It would be great to be able to use the iPhone app to turn cameras on remotely.
