Title: Weird mac behaviour

Hi Guys

Hoping someone can help me with this.

I have the Foscam knockoff IP cam.

I have the iCam program running fine on my PC and can view the iCam via iPhone.

But, I cannot get my macs to connect to the same camera.

I have tried all variances of the URL - no luck.  Just won't connect to the IP.

I have tried FF and Safari - no difference.

The weird thing is, I can connect via Safari on my iPhone directly to the camera.

Any ideas?

Are the Macs connected to the same router as your camera and your PC?

Yes they are.  One wired and one wireless.

So you aren't even able to connect to the camera from a Mac by browsing to its IP address using your web browser? (Leaving the iCamSource out of the equation.)

Do you have one of those AirPort Extreme Dual-Band routers that can support two WiFi networks, one private and one "guest" network? The "guest" network computers cannot connect to the private (main) network, and they usually cannot connect to one another, either.

No, it's a basic dlink router.

It's really weird - I can browse to http://IP/live.htm on my PC and iphone and see the feed.  I can also access the camera functions directly (settings, PTZ etc) from the PC and iPhone. 

But I cannot connect to either URLs from either of my macs.

I have tried it with my firewall off, no difference.

That is very weird. It seems like there is some fundamental issue with your network ... Macs shouldn't block you connecting to a local IP address with a web browser.

That's what I was thinking, but I can access all of the PC/Macs on my network and the router - just not the IP address that the cam is on.

Perhaps it has something to do with DHCP, perhaps I should set up the IP of the cam manually - but I don't see how that would make a difference.

SOLVED!

Apparently DHCP addresses and this Mac don't get along.

I forced a static IP and voila!
