Title: iCam RCA Cameras
Post by: roodrigox on December 17, 2009, 06:43:19 AM
Dear gentlemen

I bought the icam and I am very pleased with the app. And I'm writing here because I need help.

I have an iMac and would like to put 4 cameras in my home, but that IP cameras are very expensive here in my country. And there are two types of cameras more accessible: USB camera and cameras with RCA plugs.

But for the cameras RCA I have to install a capture card, just that I can not install this in my iMac. Then in that case, I would have to buy an external capture card. And the only one with good price I thought was that the link below. But the ad says it works only with Windows operating system.

What can I do to put cameras with RCA plugs that have night vision, so I do not have to buy another computer with Windows?

We don't really have any experience with RCA to USB video converters, but maybe some of our other users have.

That depends if your Mac's USB bus can handle running four USB webcams at once, which it may not be able to. If you are going to buy a USB hub, I would be sure to get a powered USB hub to support all of those cameras.
