So icamsource is not working at all for me. I am running Windows Vista. I installed it, uninstalled it, rebooted, reinstalled, and still I get the same thing everytime. As soon as I click on the icon on my desktop it says "iCamSource.exe has stopped working, windows is checking for a solution to the problem" Then after that it comes back with " A problem cause the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" , but then it has two buttons "debug" or "close program"..if you hit debug it goes back to the first message...and needs to close. Help. I just put iCam on my iPhone but I can't get iCamSource to work first! Anything>???

same problem here, windows 7 64 bit, i made sure dotnet is running and vcredist_x86... ???
-
Me too but mine is Windows Vista 64 bit!

When the iCamSource crashes when you first run it, it is usually an issue with the VC++ Redist or .NET
The latest version may require the latest VC++ Redistributable on some systems: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A5C84275-3B97-4AB7-A40D-3802B2AF5FC2&displaylang=en
It probably wouldn't hurt to also make sure all Windows Updates are installed as well.
-
i reinstalled the VC++ Redistributable and then ran windows update, and it in fact found an update for the VC++ Redistributable. I updated, then i installed icamsource, and restarted, and it still crashes before loading. is there a crash log of some kind in windows?
-
We are currently trying to reproduce the crash on our own Windows installs, and we do appreciate your patience.
The three things that usually fixed a crash-on-startup of the iCamSource were:
1. Installing all the latest Windows Updates.
2. Installing the latest VC++ Redistributable: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A5C84275-3B97-4AB7-A40D-3802B2AF5FC2&displaylang=en
3. Installing the latest version of .NET: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=333325FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en
If none of those things fix your issue, you can uninstall 1.4 and re-install the previous version of the iCamSource to see if that one still works for you: http://skjm.com/icam/iCamSetup1.3.6.exe
We are currently trying to determine what the issue with 1.4 is and will post an update when a new version is available.
Thanks again for your help and patience!

As noted in a different thread, icamsource1.4 is working on one win 7 machine and not the other. The one it is working on is 32-bit win 7 pro, and the other that is not working is on a win7 pro 64-bit OS. Perhaps this is the issue.

thanks Stefan, you are very quick at responding, i did everything you suggested and i have the same results. one quick note, i do have Microsoft Security Essentials installed...
-
is there a crash log of some kind in windows?
If you right-click on Computer and choose Manager > Event Viewer you can see a list of Errors that have to do with the iCamSource.

I am having the exact same problem with iCamSource... I'm running Vista 32-bit and also getting this as the application error:
"Faulting application iCamSource.exe, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x4afb080f, faulting module MSVCR90.dll, version 9.0.30729.1, time stamp 0x488ef6c5, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0003b690, process id 0x%9, application start time 0x%10."
Did all the re-installations of .NET and vcredist_x86.exe along with the windows updates and restarts...The previous version also gives the same results..
Really need help, cannot for the life of me figure out what is interfering/conflicting with this application...
-
Same exact error here on Windows 7 x64. I also tried rolling back to a previously working version just to have the same crash.
-
I have the same problem and same Error message~
I had already tried to reinstall Win 7 32bit & 64 bit, C++ , .NET ,
Windows update, Reboot....... No any effect.
Waitting long long time just for iCam 1.3 release,But icamsource crash...lol..
-
Just a quick update: We have been able to reproduce it on a clean Windows install and are now tracking down the cause of the problem.
-
Ok folks, again, thank you all again for your patience.
We believe we have fixed the issue with the latest release, downloadable here: http://skjm.com/icam/iCamSetup1.4.1.exe

I still have a problem.
Now Icamsource says "The older version of Icamsource cannot be removed".
I did remove the program. Even the register is clean now.
What to do?
Thanks in advance!

It sounds like there are still some Windows Installer registry settings that normally would be cleared by the uninstaller. Perhaps the uninstallation of the previous version didn't finish successfully.
Microsoft has a utility called the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. It's available here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Please try that utility on iCamSource. If it's successful, try the new iCamSource installer to see if it works.
