Title: Not able to click the START botton on application.
Post by: gpvirzi on July 10, 2009, 10:31:32 AM
Hello,
I have succesfully conected 2 web cams using iCam without problems.  Now I want to connect a Wireless D-Link DSC-920 but when I choose the tab for Ethernet/WiFi, the START botton appears not able to be clicked.  If I switch to USB/FIREWIRE tab the START botton appears normal again and I`m able to press it.

Thanks,

Ok, sorry about that, apparently I had to press Enter after input of the URL...

But now the problem is:

Your Webcam could not be connected to.  Make sure that the webcam URL is correct.

Can you tell me how to check if Im using the correct URL for the Cam?...  there is a software that came with the camera that says my URL is 192.168.1.106...  So I input in URL: 192.168.1.106/video/mjpg.cgi

Thanks,.

What's the Brand/Model of your camera?

Is your camera using port 80?  If not, you'll have to put the port after the IP.  Also, I think you need to include the "http://" at the beginning.  For example, if your camera is using port 8080, the URL would be:  http://192.168.1.106:8080/video/mjpg.cgi

Thanks for your reply.

My Camera is a D-Link DSC-920.
The port Im using is 8181.

So the URL is like this:
http://192.168.1.106:8181/video/mjpg.cgi

Still no connection:
HTTP/1.0 501 Method Not Implemented

I was able to connect using JPEG:

http://192.168.1.106:800/IMAGE.jpg

But the images I see on the iCamSource in the computer are very slow, extremely slow...  Is like taking a picture every 4 seconds.

That sounds about right for the JPEG snapshots.  They usually don't update as quickly as the MJPEG data.

I searched for that model in particular, and found that people are using the following  MJPEG URL:

    * MJPEG URL: http://my.camera.ip.address:port/video.cgi?showlength=1

Please try that and let me know if it works.

Thanks for the reply!.

I used the following URL:

http://192.168.1.106:800/video.cgi?showlength=1

And received this message:

Your Network Camera could not be connected to.
Make sure that the Webcam URL is correct and that your network webcam is not being blocked by any computer or network firewall.

That's great!

What did you change to get it to work?

I feel a little embarrassed to say it, but I think the problem was that the camera was placed too far from the router...   ;D

Once I got the camera close to the router, I used the last URL you sent me and it was working fine right away.

Thanks for letting me know.  That's another thing I can suggest when other people have similar issues.
