Just as I've become accustomed, SKJM Support has resolved my "freeze" issue.  Thank You!!  :D

Now that things are "fixed," the Mrs. wants her tablet back!

The "North Myrtle Beach Live Web Cam" freezes when viewing full-screen, on my iPhone.  The thumbnail view motion is normal.  I had thought it was the camera feed causing the problem; however, now I'm jealous!  This particular camera plays perfectly on my gooder-half's Kindle Fire HD.

« on: March 15, 2013, 07:30:49 PM »
Once again, SKJM Support (via email) stayed the course (with me) and isolated my Source Connection Error.  For internal security, and because I live in a rural (kuntry) area; my ISP changes my IP rather frequently it seems.

History:  I could run iCamSource and everything would appear perfectly in iCam (for iPhone).  Later (minding my own business), I would receive a PUSH that motion was detected on one of my cameras.  I'd open iCam to checkout the motion; only to receive the illustrious "Source Connection Error." We knew my port-forwarding and security software had to be configured correctly; else I would not be able to connect in the first place.  To "fix" the error, all I had to do was STOP iCamSource and START it again.

Through push, pull, tugs and prods and glue to put my hair back in; SKJM Support had me check WhatismyIP when iCam and iCamSource were working properly.  They had me check it again when I received the Source Connection Error, and sure enough, my ISP had changed my IP address.  Some days, my IP address doesn't change at all; on others it may change 3 times within half an hour.

I always try to give credit where credit is due; and SKJM Support deserves it.  My "errors" with iCam and iCamSource were not caused by their software; rather it is my ISP that I have to resolve issues with.

At this point, I can pay my ISP more for a fixed (static IP address); or I can continue to STOP and START iCamSource (now that I understand the problem).  At the least, I know where my problem originates!

Thanks SKJM Support, for being patient enough to hang in there with me on my Source Connection Error issue.  You have been, and still are the BEST in Support!

iCam Support / Re: Stops working after computer is idle for 24 hours

What security software do you use, dkb52? And what OS? I use Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows 7 built-in firewall, and don't have that issue. But it does sound possible.

I am currently using Windows 7 Home-Premium with McAfee Security Suite for all my computers.  Due to "I want control" clashes, I have my windows firewall disabled, and let McAfee handle things.

As I said, it might be coincidence, but I did note (to myself) when I receive the Broker/No Sources Found errors, the McAfee Shield indicates a security/virus scan is being performed.

I have gone to the port-checker website thingy (during a scan), and sure enough my "designated ports" are closed.  Oddly, I have two USB cameras, and two wireless IP cameras and only lose the iCamSource video during the scan.  I can still access and view the IP cameras through their own interface.

Still researching how to tell McAfee to "leave them thar ports" alone!

I've had a similar issue that "always" seems to show up when I'm away for an extended time.  I usually receive a "No Sources Found," or "Broker Error," on iCam.

Once back in front of my computer (iCamSource), I noticed my security software was performing a scheduled scan.  I am convinced the security software is closing ports during the scan.  I have not figured out how to tell my security software not to close ports, so whenever I have a scheduled (or expected trip), I make sure nothing is scheduled during my absence.

I personally have not had this particular problem since double-checking schedules before I leave for extended periods.

Still, I might be overlooking the obvious, and my security scan port closures are coincidental.

iCam Support / Re: iCamSource - Connecting.....
« on: October 11, 2012, 08:24:21 PM »
If you see "Connecting ..." then the iCamSource is unable to communicate with the iCam Broker Server, and is either being blocked by firewall or security software on your computer or your network. - http://skjm.com/icam/help/troubleshooting.php#icam1

The Auto-Start in iCamSource simply Starts (instead of you having to click the Start button in the preference window) iCamSource when you Open the program.

Interesting, since iCamSource would "hang" on Connecting... when Auto-Start Was Checked (saving me a step).  When "connecting..." I would press STOP, and then START again (manually) and I would get to "Connected to Server."  I'm sure you are correct, and something in my firewall or network settings change between pressing "STOP" and "START" in iCamSource.

I've had this same problem the past few days.  Not sure what has changed (if anything); but I had "Auto-Start" selected in iCamSource.  After unchecking that box, iCamSource seems to load, and "connect to server" fine.

iCam Support / iCam/iCamSource Feature Wish List
« on: October 01, 2012, 10:43:17 AM »
While reviewing motion events, I had an "awe crap" moment.  I was a little too rambunctious with the thumb & finger swipe to delete events, and deleted an event I wanted to keep.

So!  I would like to see an iCam feature to "lock" events, so I don't accidentally delete them (remotely).  Should be easy (heh, heh), right swipe=delete, left swipe=lock.  Or, instead of events (and images) being removed from iCamSource folders, have them moved to the recycle bin, so I can correct MY mistakes.

I know I could save images on my iPhone; however, the event I accidentally deleted had 121 images.  I would still need to transfer from my phone back to an appropriate folder on the computer.

In addition, for iCamSource I would like to see a checkbox "[]" option for the "camera list," so I can enter camera information once, and decide which camera I want iCamSource to access at any given time.

For example:  I have a really good day-time camera (watches driveway) and night-vision camera (watches garage).   At this time, I cannot input the information for both cameras, and have only one of them "operating," in iCamSource.  So, I have to remove the camera (from the list) I do not want to use at any given time, and input the camera information I do.

It would make it easier for ME (me, me, me) if a camera selection check box was added.

Thanks!

iCam Support / Re: View Motion Events can be really slow
« on: September 07, 2012, 04:06:07 PM »
Maybe your hard drive has spun down to sleep (as per the System Preferences > Energy Saver setting) and the iCamSource has to wait for it to spin up again? Or perhaps they are being stored on a network drive that has either gone to sleep or needs to be re-mounted?

Makes sense, so I went back to double check.

My hard drive is set to turn off after 20 minutes of inactivity.  So, it would turn back on when motion is detected, and should not effect viewing (within that same 20 minutes) ?

My other features are set to NEVER sleep or hibernate when plugged in (unless I tell it to).

I think the randomness of this issue (for me), is the micro-disconnect while my router cycles to one of the other 7 devices.  I have set up priorities for some devices; however that does not prevent the micro-disconnect during idle times.  So, my "delays" may be during record or viewing while the router is connected someplace else for that micro-second; and it takes another micro-second for iCam and iCamSource to find each other.

I put possibilities in a hat, and this is the one that got pulled!

I've had this issue also.  It's as if iCamSource has difficulty locating the events folders.

Perhaps an old DOS PATH= command someplace to help the system (Win 7) help iCamSource relocate folders?

I am "still experimenting."  My Windows computer seems to handle all three cameras so far.  I have noticed (in IPC Monitor), the frame rate jumps back up to 10 - 20 fps.

I accessed the IP camera settings through LAN, and they are still set to 5 fps; so I am uncertain at this point, if iCamSource is accessing that setting, or "tapping into" IPC Monitor's use of higher fps when both programs are running.

Note: iCamSource with three cameras are running on a Windows XP netbook, I monitor and access the cameras through LAN/WAN on another notebook.

I'll try to keep a close watch!  BTW, I switched back to MJPEG, and all still appears OK.

Jay,

Still on JPeg mode. Still running!

Side Note:  I still lose IP cameras at times; however seems to only occur if I run IPC Monitor (came with cameras) at the same time as iCamSource.  Seems there may be some competition for video/audio control (duh?)

After email support, it seems Jay led me to settings that iCamSource (Windows) likes.  My system after Jay's pushing, prodding, and leading has been stable now for 26-1/2 hours.  That's two IP Cameras, one USB camera all running on one older Windows XP netbook.

My Loftek CXS 2200 cameras are connected through my home wireless network, and audio does work!!  The Loftek IP camera appears to use FOSCAM URL commands.

Camera settings: 5 fps (or less), 640x480 resolution.

iCamSource Settings: URL: XXX.XXX.X.XXX:XXXX/video.cgi

Another example of iCam/iCamSource/iCamWeb Support - Thanks!

iCam Support / Re: Supported Pan-Tilt USB Webcams and Network IP Cameras
« on: August 12, 2012, 08:38:43 PM »
Just to let you know, my Loftek CXS 2200 IP camera seems to work well with iCamSource 2.5; expecially "in" my home network.

I originally thought the pan/tilt function was not working (impatience).  Swiping the camera up/down/right/left, I did not immediately see a result in iCam.  I did sit by the camera and noticed it moved almost immediately; so the "loop" back to iCam took 8 to 10 seconds (no complaint).

The only other issue noted; when away from home network (3G/Edge), my IP camera will "just disappear," from iCam.  NO Broker or Source connection errors, it's just gone.

Logging into the IP camera server, it shows it is still running.  Usually, if I lower the resolution or Fps, the image returns in iCam, then disappears again.  I'll keep playing with the resolution and Fps, and see if I come up with an optimal setting (for me).

Basically, just reaffirming the LofTek CXS 2200 does work with iCam and iCamSource 2.5.
