WVC54GCA connected and visible thru browser but not iCamSource
« on: September 11, 2009, 02:50:54 PM »
Hi, after much faffing about, I finally got my WVC54GCA connected and visible thru browser but I am having trouble with iCamSource seeing it. Maybe it is a password issue? To login to the settings using my browser it is admin/admin, but when I put those into the iCamSource webcam login and webcam password, nothing happens. Also, it is MJPEG, not JPEG right?

Any help very much appreciated.

What is the exact URL that you are entering into iCamSource?

For the WVC54GCA, the URL is http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:yy/img/video.mjpeg  , where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is replaced with the IP address of your camera and yy is replaced with the port your camera is using.  You are correct, it is MJPEG, so the MJPEG checkbox should be checked.

Thanks for your quick response. I have the IP address of the camera, but not sure how I check what port it is on?

Sorry about that.  If you normally don't specify a port when you connect to your camera, you can leave off the ":yy" portion of that URL. The default port is 80, so if you don't specify a port, it will use port 80.

Thanks, got the picture now in iCamSource prefs preview window and on iPhone. No sound, however, even when

1. iPhone sound turned right up
2. Mac sound turned right up
3. Webcam microphone checkbox ticked.

Any ideas?

IP camera support is currently video-only.

Pity! As a baby monitor would be nice. One last question (thanks for speedy help btw) anything I can do to improve low light/night vis?

The WVC54GCA doesn't have real night vision, but you can change the brightness and low light sensitivity in the camera's settings.
