iCam Support / Re: Hardware Issue Perhapse?

You could try swapping the cam that freezes with one of the other cams. Basically, swap the USB ports to see if it is the cam or computer port.

I run 6 cams (mix of web and IP) on two XP computers and the Icamsource program will stop when Windows notifies of an update. I finally turned off the updates and check for updates manually at my convenience, not theirs!

I have a Fairpoint wireless DSL router/modem at a remote location. I found a procedure online to bridge the router/modem so that it is now only a modem. I then added a Netgear wireless router just like the one I have at home. The Netgear router is easier to set up for UPnP and port forwarding. I also set up a host domain and everything is pretty stable for 2 webcams and 2 IP cams.

How about just turning off motion detect from Icam? Cam will still be on, just not saving images.

Are you using the same login and password that the Icamsource program is using?

The Netgear router you have is beefy enough. I run two IP cams at home through one and two IP cams at a remote location. If you only want to monitor and not record, an IP camera can be setup with port forwarding in the router and monitor the live image with a computer or smartphone (using app for the IP camera). Airlink IP cameras are reliable and can monitor with SkyIPCam app. One of my Airlinks is not on Icamsource, it is setup just to watch my driveway so I can see if it snowed. A computer is not needed after initial setup for this method, just a router and IP camera. As suggested here, my Airlinks had to be set for <5 fps for reliablity.

I have two Netgear routers, WNR2000v2 and WNR2000v3. One is at my home and the other is at a remote location. I use Windows XP computers for running Icamsource. I'm not familiar with Macs, but I've had no problem connecting two Airlink cameras wirelessly at home using the WPS feature after configuring them wired to router.

Did you set up the camera wired first? Hopefully someone more familiar with Macs will come along.

EDIT: just looked on mylink.com for your camera, requires Mac OS X 10.5 or higher.

Icamsource should work for you. Just turn off Record Motion Events and it won't save any events. Make sure you check if Icam works on your phone on 3G and WIFI before you leave.

IP cameras might work for what you want to do. I have one that is not running on Icamsource, it's just on, pointing at my driveway. I can access it through web interface or through SkyIPCam app on my phone. IP cams don't require a computer to be on for access. Unless you want the app to turn the cam on/off, then this won't work.

I am running Icamsource on XP Pro and Home editions with no issues. Have also run it on Windows 7 Home.

I have the Airlink 747W and the newer 1747W. They are similar cameras, except that the 1747W has a WPS button which makes it easier to connect wirelessly to your network (as long as your router supports WPS). They work well for indoor viewing with night vision and pan/tilt.

Have the images saved to a Dropbox account.

Network / IP Camera Compatibility / Re: IP Cameras in use and recommend.

I was at work and had my GF stop Icamsource at home, change the two IP cams from MJPEG to JPEG and restart. I asked her about the images on Icamsource, she said there were images, but she didn't take notice if they were live or frozen. There were not any error messages that she knew of but she didn't pay much attention to detail. I have her stop/start Icamsource sometimes if I'm not home, I can't remote into my home computer. I did check both cams on SkyIPCam app on my phone before I had her make the change and they were live.

I switched two Airlink cams to MJPEG on Icamsource last night and this morning I could not see them on Icam. It appeared to be fine last night. Switched them back to JPEG and all is ok again. I am using the URL as listed in the original post for this thread. Any ideas?

Thanks for the advice about MJPEG radio button. I have seen advice in the past about using JPEG and I thought it was the better way to go. I just switched my home setup to MJPEG and will make sure it's still stable, then will make the same change to my remote setup.

I got my first IP camera almost a year ago and wasn't very happy with it until I read a lot of posts here. Never thought that I would be proficient at port forwarding and setting up a host domain. I just received my third IP cam and a fourth one is on the way. All cams are Airlink, I like the SkyIPCam app on my Android phone. All cams set to 2 fps and are stable.

Remote location:
Airlink AICN747W, wired to router, pointed inside for view of room by pan/tilt.
Airlink 1620W, wired to router, pointed outside.

Home location:
Airlink AICN1747W, wireless connection, pointed inside for view of room by pan/tilt.
Airlink 1620W, wireless connection, pointed inside.

SykIPCam app is cool in the event computer or Icamsource has an issue, I can still view the Airlink cams as long as there is an internet connection and the router is on.

I know this an IP cam section, but I also use 2 Logitech Pro 9000's at remote location and 1 at home. Very happy with the setup.

Update: Received the Airlink 1620W and got it set up last night. I use the following URL for all of the Airlink cams:

http://hostdomain.dyndns.org:port/cgi/mjpg/mjpg.cgi and selected the JPEG button.
