: iCant get it to work :(
: iCant April 20, 2011, 02:45:27 PM
I have an EyeToy (SLEH-00031) I couldn't get it to work with macam on my mac (running SL 10.6.7 if my memory is good it was working on previous versions)
So i'm running a windows XP via parallels on my mac were the EyeToy works fine!

But I can't connect from my iPhone  :(
Tried setting up my router with uPNP enabled and port forward 12000 to 121000 to different ip's.
uPNP Succes 12000-12100 --> Source Connection Error

My EyeToy works (in paralells), iCam 'works' but the program is now useless to me  >:(

It sounds like you have manual port forwarding enabled AND you are trying to use uPNP? If that's true, you can only use one of those options. Disable manual port forward and leave auto-config router checked. Restart icamsource and see if that does the trick. If not, make sure your firewall isn't getting in the way. I wouldn't think that would be the issue though, since it's saying uPNP success. I'm sure the SKJM guys will write back if there's some more specific advice relating to running XP in parallel or whatever (I'm not a Mac guy).

Thnx for you reply!

I removed the firewall forwarding rule and enabled uPNP.
iCamSource (2.2.2) states: uPNP Succes 12000 ->12000 with ' auto-config router' enabled.

iCam (2.01) on my iPhone says after loading for a while ' Source Connection Error' that is on 3G and with Wifi (same network)

I'm lost what to do now  ???

The UPnP Success message indicates that the port has been opened successfully in the router.

If you're seeing the Source Connection Error when your phone and computer are connected to the same network, that indicates the problem is caused by firewall software on the computer, since the network traffic isn't going through the router in that case. Please quit or disable all firewall software on the computer running iCamSource (temporarily) to see if iCam starts working. If it does, we can configure the firewall to work with iCam.

There is progress..

I connected my EyeToy with following settings:
SIF (320x240) Rate 5 fps [X] Reduce bandwith

ZyXEL P-2602HW-D1A
[X] Active the Universal Plug and Play(UPnP) Feature
[ ] Allow users to make configuration changes through UPnP

When I disable "Auto-Config Router" in iCamSource
I've got video stream on my iPhone!!  ;D
But it kept closing after 15-25sec only when I disabled the audio its running fine on wifi.

But now I have no sound and with 3G internet connection on iPhone it only shows black  :(

Did you try temporarily disabling your firewall software? It might be the Windows Firewall or it could be some other 3rd party software that you would have installed. SKJM Support indicated that there must be a firewall software that is blocking communication between your phone/computer. If you haven't tried that yet, try disabling it, enabling uPNP in the router, and enabling auto-router config in icamsource (all at the same time...not one at a time).
: Re: iCant get it to work :(

My firewall in my mac is disabled and also my firewall in my router is disabled.
When I am not selecting auto-router config and disable the audio, it works on my iPhone connected on the same wifi network.
But if I select auto-router config it only shows black screen.

So there's nothing blocking in that part.
Audio is a 'no go' but why? To much data?

And my biggest issue I can't connect from outside my wifi this needs port forwarding or some setup I assume?!

Hoping for some support cause setting this up is quitte a hassle for me!

I thought you said you were running icamsource in Windows XP running in parallel or something? If so, Windows would have a firewall that might be causing the issues. Otherwise, I'm out of ideas. But I'm sure the SKJM guys can get you up and running.

Yeah I did, I forgot to mention in enthusiasm that I managed to get it working in OSX 10.6.7 ::)
(with settings mentioned above)

For the record:
Snow Leopard 10.6.7
Router: ZyXEL P-2602HW-D1A
iCamSource 2.2.2.1 with (PortRangeSet -bool true)
macam 0.92 CVS
iPhone 4 (4.3.1) with iCam 2.0.1

Router settings:
Default router settings with uPNP and WPA2 enabled
Active the Universal Plug and Play(UPnP) Feature (checked)
Allow users to make configuration changes through UPnP (not checked)

iCamSource settings:
Audio - No Audio
Video - 1 - macam #0: Sony Eye Toy (2)
Auto-Config Router (not checked)
Port Forward Range (not checked)
Motion Detection - Off

macam settings:
Format - SIF (320x240)
Rate - 5 fps
Reduce bandwith (checked)
Led (checked)

What's working:
With above settings I managed to get the stream to iPhone on the same wifi network

What ain't working is:
Audio:
When I enable audio it quits stream after few seconds or I get black screen with strange red dot in there.

Over mobile network:
I get black screen on iPhone with strange red dot

When checked the Auto-Config Router I got the same black with red dot even on wifi.

That looks like video from a webcam. Please send me a screenshot from the iPhone and iCamSource simultaneously so we can see what iCamSource is sending and compare it to what iCam is displaying.

Also, what Audio entries are available in the Audio drop down list?

Appears I have a ghost cam  ::)
Stream works on wifi without auto-config enabled.
Stream quits after 15-20sec after enabling EyeToy Audio
Stream doesn't work over 3G network only wifi

So what to do next to get it working over 3G?
Do I need to port forward to get it working from outside my wifi?

I know how I can change some thing in my router but my knowledge about networks is little.
Even with this link i'm still not sure how to set it up.

The "ghost cam" could be another users camera. I see from your screenshot that your login/password is very short. Users can set the login and password in iCamSource to be anything they want. Make sure yours is something other people won't be able to guess easily.

Have you tried the Auto-Config option since switching the Mac OSX platform?

I Still can't get it to work  >:( >:(
The ' ghost' cam was indeed from another user.. I saw somethings I wish I had never seen!  :-\

What do I need to change in order to get it to work over 3G?!  ??? ???

Now the $5 app is useless to my and I hate making bad investments!

If you're still seeing the UPnP Success message, please check to see if the port is open.
To do that, run and start iCamSource, until the UPnP Success message shows up.
Then hit the Stop button in iCamSource and immediately go to http://portchecker.net/udp.php (http://portchecker.net/udp.php) in your web browser.
That page will have an entry for the port number. Enter the exact same port number that showed up in the UPnP Success message. If the port is blocked, try disabling their firewall temporarily to see if iCam starts working.

UDP Port 12000 is BLOCKED
With my Mac's firewall disabled and my routers firewall disabled.

But after some reading I've learned that even if the routers firewall is disabled it still needs some rules or something to communicate.

But I just can't figure it out!  :(

I stumbled on this link:
http://www.zyxeltech.de/previews/p2602hwnlid7a/rpSys.html (http://www.zyxeltech.de/previews/p2602hwnlid7a/rpSys.html)
This is just as if you can acces my router (although its a slightly different model)
Only thing not showing up on that site is if your make a new rule.
Here I get another input screen that is not showing up on that website.
But if needed I will make a screenshot.

I've tried, after disabling the firewall, on my router:

under "advanced"
enabling uPnP
Port 12000 still blocked from website port checker

After disabling uPnP I tried to manually port forward port 12000-12000 to my mac's ip adres 192.168.1.xx
Tried numerous settings to permit port 12000 under 'user define' in the NAT settings.
Tried making firewall rules (with firewall on and of) with UDP permitted from 'any adress' and tried 'wan to lan', 'lan to wan' ect. settings..
Restored default router settings numerous times to ensure things didn't conflict.

I was trying to let my router permit everything and then go from there to more save settings but port 12000 keeps being blocked.

Ending this post I would like to thank you for your time and support given already!  :)
I'm no computer noob but this network thing is beating me! Now more then ever I regret i'din't took the cisco course! ::)

Please send a screenshot of your routers port forwarding to support@skjm.com (http://support@skjm.com) so we can verify the settings.

Also, please go to http://whatismyipaddress.com/ (http://whatismyipaddress.com/) from the computer running the iCamSource and let us know what it says your external IP address is then we can attempt to look it up in the Broker Server logs and hopefully troubleshoot the problem.

I had mine all up and running on both 3G and wifi and did all the port specific stuff and router configuration to get it to work, what a hassle.  Why after getting it all up and running (for awhile), I can't get the wifi to work?  Nothing has changed.  It still works with 3G.  You would think once you configured everything you would be good to go.  This is far from user friendly.  I'm not a computer newbie.

iCam does "just work" for the majority of users, but there are setups that do require some additional configuration.

What error message are you seeing when you are unable to connect via your local WiFi: No Sources Found, Broker Connection Error, or Source Connection Error? Do you ever see that error message when your phone is connected to the same local Wi-Fi network as the computer running iCamSource?

Please send a screenshot of your routers port forwarding to support@skjm.com (http://support@skjm.com) so we can verify the settings.
