Hi. My Problem is that every time I try to open the app on my iPhone 4S or iPad, the app crashes after 1 second! I tried deleting the app and reinstalling again, no change! the app does not work even when icamsource is not running. please help...
-
If you delete and then re-install iCam on your phone, does it crash before you are even able to enter your Login and Password?
Does it make a difference if your devices are connected via WiFi or 3G/LTE, if available?
If iCam is crashing, there should be crash logs. Here is the direct link for instructions on how to locate crash logs from your iPhone/iPad: http://www.ondemandworld.com/how-to-find-crash-logs/
If you find any iCam crash logs, please send the most recent ones to support@skjm.com and we will hopefully be able to further troubleshoot the issue.

Get the same on all my devices from 10am EST today, wifi or 3/4g all the same

I have this problem too on an iphone 4s running ios 7.0.3. icam has been running perfectly for over a year but now crashes on startup. Delete and re-install of app has no effect. >:(

Thank you for the crash logs, Paulberesford.
The crashed thread in the crash logs references StoreKit before crashing, which is the interface that apps use to communicate with Apple about in-app purchase information.
Here in the U.S. (where it is almost 3 a.m.) we are unable to replicate the issue using our own devices. Where geographically are you currently located?
It may be an issue with Apple's servers with your country or location's particular App Store. That might be why it suddenly stopped working without any update to the app itself.
Does the App Store app work correctly on your devices?

The first report we had of this issue was approximately 8 PM PST (here in the U.S.) which was almost 7 hours ago. 10 am EST in Australia (AEST) was approximately 10 hours ago, is that correct?
-
Yes located in Australia here (Melbourne). About 10hours ago sounds right.
The App Store seems to be working fine, can purchase and update fine.
It seems on startup, I have one device that has icam always open, it is still running since I haven't closed the app today.

Checking my crash logs, first crash was 11.09am EST (+11)

Thank you for that additional information.
Upon further investigation, it appears as if Apple's servers may not be sending back the correct description of the Private Proxy Data in-app purchase item. The description should be "25 MB of Private Proxy Data" but Apple's servers must be sending something else back that is causing the crash.
The app expects the description to start with "<num> MB" so that it knows how much data a user will receive when they purchase the Private Proxy Data item. It is likely that the description does not start with "25 MB" in this case, and that is what is causing the crash.
Our US-based devices are not crashing, but when changing our phone to use the Australian or Italian stores, it does crash. Changing the store back to US results in no crash once again.
Here is the YouTube video we used to change our iPhone's App Store country: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8rbF8Cue7k
We are going to reach out to Apple to see if they can shed some light on this issue, but in the meantime, temporarily changing your Apple ID to be registered in the US should cause iCam to stop crashing on startup.
-
hi just wanted to confirm that after changing the store to US from Australia it works fine too. please update when it will be fixed.
-
Thank you very much! After changing to US store its working fine again...
-
I have iTunes match and some iTunes credit so I can't change store. I'm in the UK.

Update: After reviewing the Apple Developer Forums it looks like this is an issue for ALL in-app purchases for ALL apps in EVERY country's App Store EXCEPT the United States.
If you are outside of the US and look at any app's In-App Purchase descriptions, are they all blank?
-
Here is what non-US App Store users are seeing when viewing in-app purchases in the App Store: http://pic.twitter.com/ddtKPv2FXt
-
yes they are blank in Germany
-
Unfortunately we must now wait for Apple to fix this issue on all of the non-US App Stores. Hopefully they will remedy the situation quickly once they all wake up in Cupertino.
-
Update : An Apple representative in Cupertino has just responded in the Developer Forum thread about this problem that they are currently looking into the issue.
-
If changing Region/Country is the only solution, it will not work for me. The reason given is that one cannot switch region if there is a balance on his Apple Account.
Is there no other solutions? Why did this suddenly happen anyway? I've been using iCam for years and it has been working just fine.

Unfortunately we know of no other solution short of waiting for Apple to fix the problem with their non-US App Stores. We don't know why they introduced the problem, but they say that they are aware of it and are working on a solution.
-
We are surprised and dismayed that Apple has yet to fix the problem, and that they have yet to give any further updates on the status of the situation.
You can see the problem further illustrated in the various iCam App Store links below.
The US App Store link shows the correct In-App Purchase descriptions: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/icam-webcam-video-streaming/id296273730?mt=8&uo=4
But the following non-US stores still show the blank descriptions:
United Kingdom : https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/icam-webcam-video-streaming/id296273730?mt=8&uo=4
Australia : https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/icam-webcam-video-streaming/id296273730?mt=8&uo=4
Japan : https://itunes.apple.com/jp/app/icam-webcam-video-streaming/id296273730?mt=8&uo=4
France : https://itunes.apple.com/fr/app/icam-webcam-video-streaming/id296273730?mt=8&uo=4
Canada: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/icam-webcam-video-streaming/id296273730?mt=8&uo=4
You can search for "icam" in any country's iOS Apps list using Apple's iTunes Link Maker web site: http://linkmaker.itunes.apple.com/
-
Actually, just after posting those links it does appear that the Australian store does now also include the descriptions. Apple may currently be rolling out a fix.
Can any Australian users confirm if iCam is still now crashing for you, and if the descriptions are showing up in your store?
-
Now the UK and France links seem to contain the descriptions, but still not Japan or Canada.
EDIT : Now it looks as if the UK store descriptions have disappeared again. *sigh*
-
Changing the country for our Apple ID to Australia on our iPhone still results in a crash, and the descriptions don't yet show up in the App Store app on our phone, but hopefully what we are seeing on the Australian App Store web links means that the fixes should be rolling out through the various parts of the stores soon.
-
Same prob in Canada

Glad to hear it. It does appear that when we change our Apple ID to Australia that yes, it does appear to be fixed for us as well. Hopefully the fix will roll out to the other countries' stores soon.
Hopefully soon I can take a nap after being up for most of the night. :)
