I have the Foscam but I cannot figure out how to get the pan-tilt feature to work...

Bring the Foscam camera view to the front, then sweep across screen left to right - right to left, or up and down = pan / tilt.

I guess mine is not working

I guess mine is not working
Are you able to control your camera using the standard web interface controls? Also, are you running the latest version of the iCamSource, version 2.4?

Pan and Tilt works on the Trendnet TV-IP422W! Wow! Thanks!
One tip to pass along. Make sure you that in iCamSource you are using your admin username and password. In my experience with the IP422, you have to have admin privileges to do pan and tilt. Of course, made a contribution, too. Great work!
Next, how about adding pan/tilt presets? ;)

Thanks for the tips ... I've added the Trendnet cam to the list. :)
As for presets, it's on our "todo" list.

Hi I am using two Foscam FI8908W and I cannot get the pan and tilt to function I have both the latest updates for icam and the source

I've got a logitech orbit AF, that works somewhat well on my mac mini server with an icam setup. Since there are no drivers besides mac os x's, is this feature on both platforms?
*update*
i've since then shoved one of my xp vm's on that server and gotten it to work successfully through there, so i'm guessing it's missing the functions of the logitech driver. Also, the logitech doesn't work nearly as well as the usb dumb cam i've used on the mac before. It sucks they won't create drivers.

I have a Tenvis cam and could not get the Pan-Tilt to work with the URL that gets suggested from the help page. I was reading the help here and thought I would try FOSCAM since it was approved and used the video.cgi extension that was suggested and it worked! I now have the pan tilt working great - thanks for adding this feature.

I've got a Logitech Orbit/Sphere AF and can't get the pan and tilt to function. I have iCam 2.1.1 on my iPhone 4 and iCamSource 2.4.1 on my Windows 7 64bit PC.

JoeB72 - There was a bug in versions 2.4 and 2.4.1 that prevented the Logitech PTZ functions from working correctly in certain situations. That particular bug has been fixed in version 2.4.2.
You can get version 2.4.2 here: http://skjm.com/icam/iCamSetup2.4.2.exe
Please let me know if that fix resolves your problem.

Hey guys I am new to the forum but I just wanted to say that the latest iCam software 2.4 on my Mac is freakin awesome.
I had a Dlink DCS-930L and and DCS-932L and had them working great with iCam. I came across an awesome deal at B&H photo that I couldn't pass so I returned these and bought 3 of the Foscam FI8918W. They are normally $120 but are going for $90, no tax and free shipping.
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/780103-REG/FOSCAM_FI8918W_B_FI8918W_Wireless_IP_Camera.html
http://www.amazon.com/Foscam-Wireless-Camera-antennas-Black/dp/B004UMN7KE - with 9db antennas
Set up was a breeze. The cameras come with a CD (Mac or PC) and the only tool you need from it is the IP tool. This is what tells you your IP of the camera.
Here are the steps to set it up:
1) Plug in the power for the camera and connect it to your wireless router
2) Open up the "IP Camera Tool" to get the IP of your camera
3) Open up an internet browser and type in http://"IP from previous step"
4) The login is "admin" and there isn't a password.
5) Now you can set up your camera preferences. The important part is to set up the wireless. Hit "scan" to find your network and enter your password for the network. (I had to hit scan twice for it to work)
6) Once you hit "Submit" your camera will need to reset (30 seconds)
You can leave your camera plugged in directly or you can unplug it and move it to wherever you want. ***Remember that if you choose to use it wirelessly, it will re-identify the IP to the next available number. For example - Hard wired into the router it was 0.0.0.20; wireless it is now 0.0.0.21. You can can always run the "IP Camera Tool'
Now start iCam and choose "Ethernet/Wifi". For your address plug in "http://"IP found above"/video.cgi. Your login on the next line is the same as your login into the camera. If you didn't set a password then your login is "admin" and password is blank. Also set the "Auto Config Router" button.
Start em up and it should work flawlessly! I have 3 wireless Foscams running without an issue!
You guys at iCam are doing a great job! Keep it up! I'm not freaking out anymore about whether or not I closed my garage doors!

I would like to know if you support Sony SN30 IP pan-tilt zoom cameras. Thanks.

Hi
Are any Panadonic IP webcam supporter with PTZ? If so... Do I need to change some config in iCam server in how it connects to the cameras
Following is how it connects from iCam with MJPEG:

Thanks,

JoeB72 - There was a bug in versions 2.4 and 2.4.1 that prevented the Logitech PTZ functions from working correctly in certain situations. That particular bug has been fixed in version 2.4.2.
You can get version 2.4.2 here: http://skjm.com/icam/iCamSetup2.4.2.exe
Please let me know if that fix resolves your problem.
Thanks for your quick response. I installed 2.4.2 and it didn't resolve the problem. Sometimes it crashes when I hit Start button (like version 2.4 did before 2.4.1 was released). Sometimes it gets started and it crashes when I try to swipe (pan & tilt) on the iPhone app. No pan & tilt yet :'(

No, iCam does not currently support PTZ for Panasonic IP webcams. Supported PTZ USB Webcams and Network IP Cameras are discussed on this forum thread: http://skjm.com/forum/index.php?topic=3162.0 (http://skjm.com/forum/index.php?topic=3162.0)

Have you cleaned the registry, if not please download and run (double-click) this file: http://skjm.com/icam/CleaniCamKey.reg
That will erase the current iCamSource settings in your registry. You will need to re-enter all of your settings, but hopefully the problem will be resolved if it's due to a problem in the registry.

Just like with any other IP camera, you will need to configure your network router to forward a single TCP port to your iOS device's internal IP address. Is your webcam plugged into a USB hub or extension cable? If so, please try plugging it directly into the computer.
Make sure that Windows is fully updated through Windows Update and that you have the latest drivers installed for your webcam.
Also, please make sure there aren't any other video capture programs (such as Skype) running. They might be fighting iCamSource for access to the camera.

Hi
I also have a Logitech Orbit AF, WIN7 64bit
ICam source works fine (2.4,2.41,2.42)
I have tried
http://skjm.com/icam/CleaniCamKey.reg
Orbit is connected direct into the PC.
You can see that "Logitech webcam controller" is used by iCamSource, BUT that just it
You can not remote control the Orbit from ICam in the Android phone :'(
Please advice

In our iCamSource, it says "QuickCam Orbit/Sphere AF", not "Logitech Webcam Controller". You may not have the Orbit software installed. You can get it here: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/435/3480?WT.z_sp=Image (http://www.logitech.com/en-us/435/3480?WT.z_sp=Image)
Also, currently the Android version of iCam does not support PTZ. It has been requested and is currently on our list of potential features to implement in the future.
-
I was maybe a little unclear:
In iCamsource it says:QuickCam Orbit/Sphere AF (just as your setup)
In the "Logitech webcam controller"-window it is stated: "is used by: iCamSource", which should be ok
I can control the cam from the pc, but not in the androidphone
It seemed like PTZ was working from reading the top of this thread (iPhone+ Android version)
Any ETA for PTZ on Android?
(Otherwise keep up the good work with improving iCam (for both ;) phone versions)

Windows is fully updated and the latest drivers of the webcam are installed
There are no other video capture programs running
I'm sticking with version 2.4.1 for now, even if no PTZ functions are working, because 2.4.2 is still an unstable version
I'm really looking forward to have PTZ functions available from my iCam app
Thanks for your work

I've got a Logitech Orbit/Sphere too, but for me there is a mistake...
Is the first version of the orbit that is different from the others. I use also MyWebcam software on my Android, my Orbit cam pan great :)

Not at this time but we will keep PTZ support for Panasonic on our list of potential features to add in the future.

re: logitech orbit AF
Wishlist:
1. An option to turn off the pan/tilt ... since I accidentally pan and tilt often.
2. The pan and tilt swipe logic is not consistent. Please correct that.
I.E., The logic of pulling the camera right (dragging right to left, like pawing right) makes sense.
BUT the logic for tilt up is to swipe up from the bottom (which is backward from the logic
of pan pawing ... swiping right to left to pan right).
I.E., I'd like the logic of tilting up, to be pawing from top to bottom
just like pawing right to left to pan right. (This is why I'd like to just turn it off,
since I can never aim the camera back where it was. :-)
TO BE CLEAR:
Swiping from right to left, pans right.
Swiping from left to right, pans left.
BUT
Swiping from bottom to top, pans up.
Swiping from top to bottom, pans down.
(TO BE CONSISTENT WITH PAN, TILT SHOULD BE:)
Swiping from top to bottom, should pan up.
Swiping from bottom to top, should pan down.
(Or, you could think about the handle on a video tripod.)
Pull handle from right to left, pans right.
Pull handle from left to right, pans left.
Push handle down, tilts up.
Push handle up, tilts down.
The way it is now, you have to reverse wire your brain
when switching from panning to tilting. :-)

We've been able to replicate the PTZ direction issue. It looks like the new version of the Orbit may behave differently than the old version. There should be a test version for you to try next week.
-
We updated to the latest Logitech software and the PTZ controls now work correctly for us. There must have been a bug in the previous version of their software. Please update to the latest version of the Logitech software.
-
When you say it works on here for Pan tilt zoom.. Does that apply to a mac too? The only updates listed were for windows. I can't install the factory control software as is does not work on mac I have a macbook pro w/ a logitech orbit af. Help . Thanks
-
The Logitech PTZ support is Windows-only. Unfortunately, Logitech doesn't provide any method for controlling the cameras on a Mac.

I know and its SO frustrating! If anyone knows of ANY 3rd party drivers or software that will make these these work, please let me know!! I found a couple that did, but then Lion changed that and apparently ioxperts used to but it has not been updated in years. There is a PTZ add on to firefox that you can set up, but used the URL programming and I have no Idea what that is or how to find it. Any thought or tips and Id be very very grateful

I use a level one 2060 ip-network camera which I guess is not supported for pan/tilt movement. On my Mac i cannot swipe from left to right or vice versa -
nor on my iPad2 .( icam version is 2.4.1)
Could anybody explain me how it works on Mac-Lion or Ipad
thank you and I am looking forward for any help.

hanon8, currently the only cameras with PTZ support are the cameras listed in the first post of this thread, so it won't work with your particular camera.

A number of users have requested support for Panasonic Pan-Tilt which is now supported with the latest BETA version of the iCamSource : http://skjm.com/forum/index.php?topic=3767.0

I've used your product in the past, its great and loved it with my iPhone. Just changed to an Android based phone and want to setup cameras to keep an eye on our dogs while we are out to make sure everything is ok.
I'm guessing these follow all the same setup guides as any others? I'm going to order them now and I'll post if they work or have issues. thanks again!

I'm a new user and have just set up iCamsource 2.4 (downloaded this afternoon) on a Mac Mini running OS X 10.6 Server. I am connecting successfully with both the iPhone 4S app and the web interface, but the PLZ functions in both these clients are not working even though my camera is the Logitech Orbit AF. So far I have not installed any of the Logitech-supplied drivers. Should I install the Logitech drivers to enable the PTZ functions?
Second question: my iCam screen is divided into four small image squares, with my camera feed occupying just one of them. Is this normal behavior or can I opt for one large image?
-
Yes, please install the supplied drivers.
When only connecting to a single camera, enabling the Auto-Zoom option will cause iCam to automatically zoom-in on that camera when it initially connects. - http://skjm.com/icam/help/#icam (http://skjm.com/icam/help/#icam)

Thanks for the advice on auto-zoom. Since your "supported list of PTZ cameras" is for Windows only, I have set up a Vista virtual image (VMware) on my Mac. This has allowed me to install the Logitech drivers, which turned out to be all for Windows, and use the supplied utility to reposition the camera using Windows. This is a lot better for remote monitoring than having it permanently pointing up at the ceiling. I can now use Windows for repositioning the camera, and OS X for running iCamSource to view it remotely.
Has anybody been able to, using a setup like mine, run the Windows version of iCamSource in the virtual image and monitor it? When I try this I can do iCamSource setup within the VM, but but gets confused by the double interface of VM to IS X to router, and I can't view with the iCam app.
-
If you are having networking issues with the virtual machine running Windows it is probably because Parallels and VMWare setup the Windows installations with "Shared" networking by default, but what you are going to want to choose instead is "Bridged" so that the Windows installation acts like it is directly connected to your network router.

Just picked up a Foscam FI8918W which works great took no time at all to set up.
Love that you can swipe to move the camera, question:
Do you have plans to add control buttons to the screen for camera movement?
Even if it could be doe that you can set the app to show the buttons on for cameras you tell it have pan/tilt then maybe make the buttons see thru on the edge of the screen.
-
We've not had any requests for that particular feature, however, we will add it to our list of potential features to implement in the future.
-
Two Foscams FI8918W working fine for me, both PoE (Power over Ethernet).
Would be great to be able to define presets (Pan/Tilt) and toggle IR on/off via iCam.
Thanks so far, I already made an optional contribution.
-
I have a Foscam FI8908W Wireless IP Camera and the pan/tilt operation is slow (to say the least), is their anything I can do to improve the speed of the movement ?
-
Are you seeing a delay between the time you make a PTZ command and the time the camera moves?
-
The Loftek CXS-2200 is supported if you use the latest icamsource beta version....pan/tilt and audio. It appears to be a rebranded Foscam.
-
Hi Guys,
Pan & Tilt tested, works perfectly with Panasonic BL-C10 BL-C210 & BL-C230.
Thanks for a great product.

Dear Steven
I am doing to buy the Foscam 8918W camera but not sure the features this app supports.
I am basically looking to sync the iPhone app with the above mentioned camera, to enable me to record as soon as it detects motion and
1) sends me an alert and
2) starts recording.
Now, what I am not sure of is:
i) whether it starts recording on the iphone memory?
ii) if the iphone is not on network? what happens to the recording which otherwise, should have started, but given that it cannot immediately stream and record on iphone when not on network?
Lastly, does it support me to move around the camera?

One of the main features of iCam is the ability for the iCamSource to send Push Notifications to your iOS (iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad) or Android device as well as record Motion Events to your computer whenever motion is detected. Also, Motion Events are recorded to the computer running iCamSource. - http://skjm.com/icam/help/motion_detection.php (http://skjm.com/icam/help/motion_detection.php)
-
ok, this puzzles me. Will the recording once motion detect be on iPhone or only the computer where icamsource is running?
Also, if the icamsource and laptop where it is running is at home only, icam may not be useful as if my house is broken in, and laptop is also stolen, i would not be left with a video proof.'
I am looking for a solution that upon motion detect, the recording starts on my iphone. Does iCam do that? Secondly, if it does record on iphone, in case phone is not in the network, wondering what happens then?
-
Motion Events are stored on the computer running iCamSource, however a number of users use the free DropBox service to automatically mirror the Motion Events recorded by the iCamSource to a remote server in case the computer is turned off or stolen. There is also a free iPhone DropBox application that you can use to view your files away from a computer. - http://dropbox.com/ (http://dropbox.com/)

Just to let you know, my Loftek CXS 2200 IP camera seems to work well with iCamSource 2.5; expecially "in" my home network.
I originally thought the pan/tilt function was not working (impatience). Swiping the camera up/down/right/left, I did not immediately see a result in iCam. I did sit by the camera and noticed it moved almost immediately; so the "loop" back to iCam took 8 to 10 seconds (no complaint).
The only other issue noted; when away from home network (3G/Edge), my IP camera will "just disappear," from iCam. NO Broker or Source connection errors, it's just gone.
Logging into the IP camera server, it shows it is still running. Usually, if I lower the resolution or Fps, the image returns in iCam, then disappears again. I'll keep playing with the resolution and Fps, and see if I come up with an optimal setting (for me).
Basically, just reaffirming the LofTek CXS 2200 does work with iCam and iCamSource 2.5.

Has anyone managed to get a Foscam FI9820W working with pan/tilt? Just bought one for the office after telling everyone how wonderful iCam is, now pan tilt is not working!
The video stream is working with http://192.168.1.x/tmpfs/auto.jpg
-
To add to the above - is this because this cam is H. 264 maybe?

iCam supports Built-In, FireWire or USB Webcams and DV Cameras as well as select MJPEG-compatible Network IP Cameras.
We discuss the supported Pan/Tilt cameras on our forum at: http://skjm.com/forum/index.php?topic=3162.0

The Foscam URL that we support for Pan-Tilt is http://x.x.x.x/video.cgi
Does that URL work with your camera?
-
Is Icam compatible with the Foscam 890x series?

I tested the generic Foscam 890x series (a ethernet only Wanscam) with the free server, as well as my old USB MS Lifecam VX-3000 and both worked.
-
We are glad you got it working!
If you have any other issues or questions, please let us know.

I'm trying to use a FOSCAM Wireless IP Camera but I'm unable to make the icam recognize it via IP. Am I doing something wrong? I tried the regular IP with the port number and also the WAN IP with the port number but to no avail. Any other suggestion would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi thought I was just drop a note to show what I have working with icam
I bought the following all weather ip camera from eBay
ebay.co.uk/itm/Wireless-WIFI-IP-Camera-IR-Network-Nightvision-Outdoor-Waterproof-UK-/150969795723?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item232680448b
£40
Works a treat and easy to setup treat like a foscam and use the mjpeg URL
As mentioned I also took an old security camera system and patched it together to work on my pc and icam
The security camera was a friedlanD response I had given to me as a freebie
amazon.co.uk/Response-Friedland-CWD3-Wireless-Monitor/dp/B007RLXTSA/ref=sr_1_38?s=diy&ie=UTF8&qid=1360870707&sr=1-38
To make it work I then bought a USB video capture device sold as a device to take old vhs cam corders tapes to pc. this cost on eBay about £20
Installed the capture driver supplied
Installed the capture software supplied with serial number!? (Important it won't work unless you install this, you don't have to leave it running)
Open icam and select the new capture source via a new camera
However please note that the night vision on this USB old security camera bodge is pretty bad. Day time it's good

Hi,
Would you be able to include Pan/Tilt control for Tenvis camera? Specifically, Model JPT3815W
Thanks in advance
-
Pan/Tilt support for Tenvis has been requested in the past and is currently on our list of potential features to implement in the future.
-
My Foscam IP cameras are working properly, but, how do I configure the default position of the cameras to set at a predetermined position? Right now the cameras continually reset at random times and point to the ceiling.
-
We do not have any control over where the cameras point after it resets. The camera may have a setting on it's configuration page, but you will need to contact the camera manufacturer for more information.
-
Although, I am working through some kinks in my home network, iCam works with my Wansview Pan and Tilt. My friend has had no problems with any of his Wansview Pan-Tilt and iCam working together wonderfully.
By the way, how do you control the pan and tilt from the phone app? I saw my friend do it on his phone by touch screen. I don't see any adjustments on the phone or iCamSource program to set this up.
-
We discuss the supported Pan/Tilt cameras on our forum at: http://skjm.com/forum/index.php?topic=3162.0
To control your camera, simply swipe the zoomed-in camera view in the direction (up, down, left, right) you want your camera view to move.
-
Has anyone tested/got to work the pan&tilt on a D-Link? In my case it's a DCS-5020L It works when using the webpage of the device, but neither iCam or iCam Pro can get it to pan or tilt. Video works but can't get it to move.
Tried the different video formats,
Tried the admin account
Open to ideals
Thanls

Hi
I am trying to use an old windows phone to run icam source and I see that you say you do not support the windows phone, my question is if icam source works on a windows pc why doesn't it work on thw windows phone? Doesn't it require just a recompile for the windows phone processor?
-
Thank you for your post. Unfortunately, it's not that simple. Many of the Microsoft code libraries that iCamSource requires are only available for desktop/laptop computers (x86 type processors).
-
I have the Wansview Q3 and after some work I was able to get it to work with IcamSource Pro. I use and Iphone 5 and cannot get the pan/tilt function to work. Any Ideas?
