iCam Support / Re: weather proof IP cam

You can always buy a standard IP cam and put it in a weatherproof enclosure.

After more investigating...

icamsource 1.4.1 with icam 1.3.1 - no crashes just slow to connect sometimes
icamsource 1.4.2 with icam 1.3.1 - crashes randomly on connection from icam from 3G only (not on wifi or edge)
icamsource 1.4.1 with icam 1.3 - no problems
icamsource 1.4.2 with icam 1.3 - no problems

All computers running icamsource are 24/7 with no power saving features turned on.

Sometimes I get just a generic error other times I get no notification at all where the icon still appears in the task bar but when I mouse over it, it disappears.

Both version of icamsource crash with icam 1.3.1.  Not consistently and only ever while trying to connect.  Sometimes only one of the two running on the same machine will crash.

I've had no luck fixing the crashing with switching icamsource.  It's crashing on three different computers, two with webcam's and one with two IP cams, one megapixel and one standard.  Is there any way I can downgrade to an official icam 1.3?

That did the trick.  Apparently I had to delete the icamsource directory.  I probably was running 1.4.1 then and the crashing was still happening with the latest version of icam.  I'll test it out again as soon as i'm in a 3g area, as the crashing doesn't seem to happen on edge or wifi.

Yup, I just cleared my cache and downloaded it again.  Uninstalled all previous versions and the window when opened still says "iCamSource Preferences 1.4.2".  According to Windows Programs and Features it's version 1.4.4.

digitalfx - Was iCam 1.3.1 crashing both 1.4.1 and 1.4.2 iCamSources? Or just 1.4.2? Does iCam 1.3 connect fine to 1.4.1 and 1.4.2?

I'm not sure, the link you posted for icamsource 1.4.1 in this thread installs 1.4.2 (or so it says), even after a clean removal of the original program.

It appears that my icamsource crashing problems are being caused by the new version of icam.  I rolled back to icam 1.3 and the new icamsource hasn't crashed since on any of my computers.

The link for icamsource 1.4.1 appears to install 1.4.2.  I'm still trying to troubleshoot my crashing problems.

I've never had crashing problems before on any of my computers.

EDIT

It appears I was wrong and it's crashing on all three of my windows 7 machines(x86 and x64).  I'm going to load it on my XP box later this week and see if it crashes there too.

13
If I had to guess, I'd say it was around the time I was trying to connect.  I had two instances running and they both crashed at the same moment.

<EDIT>
It is happening on connection.  It crashed again today and I noted the times I connected.  It's not crashing every time and it's only happening on my windows 7 x64 machine.  My x86 machines are unaffected.
</EDIT>

I also found a bug (unrelated to my last post) that appears to be a difference in the motion detection slider between the icamsource and the icam app.  When you adjust it from the icam app on the phone all the way down the slider doesn't move from it's location in icamsource.  The setting is however still set.  If you set it all the way down in the icamsource the slider in the icam app does not go all the way down, only most of the way.  It appears to only be a visual problem.

No problems so far except for an icamsource crash today.  Here is the info from the event.

Network / IP Camera Compatibility / ACTi Cameras
« on: February 23, 2010, 08:28:26 PM »
Just a quick note it seems the 34xx series dome cameras now support mjpeg streaming via url (finally) as of firmware 3.11.13-AC.  The url to use is "http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/cgi-bin/cmd/system?GET_STREAM".  To get it working you need to do a few things.

1. The device is set to use MJPEG codec
2. B2 Header has been disabled. (Uncheck Enable B2 Header in the Video Setting screen)
3. Audio In must be disabled.

Testing and working with the latest icamsource and an ACTi ACM-3401.  I will test more versions of these cameras as I get my hands on them.
