jacklink01 - Please email support@skjm.com and refer to this forum thread.  I'd like you to try a test version of iCamSource.

Thanks for that info.

I wish there was a "fixed" version  :)  For now, it would just be a test version with more detailed error messages.  Problem is, I need make an educated guess about where the problem might be occurring in order to make a test version for you to try.  So I've got some more things for you to try.

Is your webcam plugged into a USB hub?  If so, please try plugging the webcam directly into the computer's USB port.

If it's already plugged directly into the computer, please try plugging it into a different USB port.

You're seeing the same error message that was mentioned in this thread: http://skjm.com/forum/index.php?topic=93.0

It's interesting that iCamSource 1.1.1 worked before it crashed.  I'd like to get some info from you that could help track the problem down.

1. If you quit the iCamSource application, then relaunch it, do you see that error message when you click the start button?

2. If you reboot your computer, then launch iCamSource and click the start button, do you still see the error message?

Jim,

The function it's crashing in is mostly automatically generated .NET code from Microsoft. There's a good chance that updating your .NET install to the latest version will solve the problem.

You can get the .NET updater here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=ab99342f-5d1a-413d-8319-81da479ab0d7&displaylang=en

If updating .NET doesn't resolve the problem, I can make a test version of iCamSource for you to try out.  In that case, please email support@skjm.com and refer to this forum thread and we can go from there.

iCam Support / Re: When will iCam with sound be coming out?

Hi,

Believe me, we're just as eager for the 1.1 update to be approved as you are.  :)

From our experience, the approval times for updates vary quite a bit.  We've had updates that were approved in a few days and other updates that took 3 weeks to get approved.

For this particular update, we've been going back and forth with Apple a little bit, so hopefully it'll be available soon.

chuckster,

Thanks for the info.  As I mentioned, ManyCam worked for me when I tried it once on my Windows computer, but that's not exactly comprehensive testing  :)

Does iCamSource work correctly when you use it with a standard built-in or USB webcam?

That indicates that the problem is with the iCamSource program, not your webcam or drivers.  Currently, iCamSource gets the default video input from the Windows operating system.  Yours is the first case we've heard of where it got a lower resolution version instead of the full resolution.

To track down this issue, I'd like you to try running a test version of iCamSource.  Please send an email to support@skjm.com and refer to this forum thread.

canuno,

In order to diagnose your problem, we're going to need some more information about your particular network.

Please send an email to support@skjm.com that refers to this forum thread.  Then we can get more info about your network configuration.

No, there aren't any resolution settings in iCamSource.  iCamSource gets the default video output from the webcam, but for some reason, it's getting a low res version from your camera.

You mentioned in your first post that the image looks fine in other programs.  What programs have you tried with your webcam?  Have you tried any of the well-known video chat programs, such as Skype (or any other non-Intel program)?  Have you seen any image display problems with any of the other programs you've used?

You're right, that's much more pixelated than it should be.  I'd expect a certain amount of pixelation on a 320x240 input because it'd be stretched to fit in the iCamSource window, but that doesn't explain the amount of pixelation you're seeing.

Are the images displayed on your iPhone pixelated this badly?

Are you running any other programs that would use this webcam at the same time iCamSource is using it?  It looks like iCamSource is getting a low resolution output from your webcam.  This may be explained if another program is using the high resolution output and locking iCamSource out from using it at the same time.

Thanks for your interest in iCam  ;D

That feature has been requested by other users. Right now, we're focusing on adding sound.  Once we finish the final touches on sound we will be deciding what to implement next.

I tried CamTwist, it worked fine for me.  On Windows, there's a program called ManyCam that does the same thing.

With both of these programs, you can have your desktop (or just a portion of your desktop, like a window) show up as a webcam to the OS.  I tried both of them with iCamSource on Mac and Windows, and they both worked for me.

The Windows beta test will probably be ending soon.  It seems to be working well for most people, however there are still some issues showing up that we'd like to get ironed out before ending the beta test.

Generally the "No Sources Found" error shows up when the login/password used on the iPhone doesn't match the login/password set on iCamSource.  There are other, less common reasons for it to show up as well.

Double check that the login and password on the iPhone and computer match exactly (make sure Caps Lock is off on the computer) .  You might want to set a completely new login and password, just to be sure.

If that doesn't help, send an email to support@skjm.com briefly describing your problem and mentioning this thread.
