Well or nobody tried ... or the sql database can only hold 1 login/pass to 1 ip.

Ahwell...

2
Correct me if I am wrong but logically this would work like :

1. icamsource connects to ip x/y usa servers
2. login/pass/camX stored in sql database to updated IP : xxx
3. iphone icam detected, login/pass received, checking sql database, login/pass found -> redirecting to update IP : xxx
4. picture clears.

Actually not such a bad thing, as it could be used for NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH in a street, using same login for multiple ip's...just wondering if icam servers can handle it...

Regards

ps: did anyone try to login with it already ? Please feedback, thx

3
PLease post if your cams are up (or just 1 cam) with boom/boom

Mine are up
Login : boom
pass : boom

Please try and feedback

4
Just a question, but you mention you don't store passwords on the servers in the USA to access people's camera's. Now if that would be the case, then if everybody would put :

Login : boom
pass : boom

this is not going to be stored in an sql database on your severs ? So if we all login with boom/boom , this is not going to show us everybodies camera's and likely crash the sql database (too much cameras connected) ?

So it's ok to give this a try ? Everybody put's in boom/boom for a day or so, and you can watch the planet on your icam... ?

Correct me if I am wrong

Regards.

Nevermind, took the software apart in ida pro and it's using an XVID codec .. actually making it blazing fast without any CPU hoggin..

Just need to find an app to load up the specific dvr while using that codec ...

It does mjpeg alright, but it's using it's own codec to talk to the 4 outputs /cam/1 /cam/2 /cam/3 etc up to 4 ... that s why it's not working on icam. Icam find's the device but can't handle the ports.

Anyway, no problem, I ll go find something that works on Iphone.

Thx for the ideas ... made me wanna go find out how this software (superdvr) talks to the hardware, this is done by a homebuild codec actually, remove the codec and the program itself fails. So if Icamsource could inc the codec, there might be light at the end of the tunnel.

I purchased the following :

http://easycapexpertti.mybisi.com/product/easycap004-4-channel-palntsc-usbdvr-motion-detect

and tried hooking it up too icamsource...without luck. Is there any way I can make this work with Icamsource ? The hardware under windows xp is listed as TD3101-3104 Video Capture (listed like that in icamsource too) but no picture not even on a single input. The drivers and package you get with it are on the above link as well. The supplied DVR software works fine with it, all 4 CCTV cams working fine, has motion etc, but I want to get it to work (hopefully) on icamsource.

Please advice, regards.

give me the source...

LOL And you responded sarcastically to my realistic (although not ideal) work around by saying "seriously?" Ah, the irony. From the sound of it, the SKJM guys provided you with a solution to your problem. You paid $5 for this program, and got free/quick customer support that addressed your problem directly and provided a fix for it. But that's not good enough...now you need their source code, which is how they make their money. I'm sure they will implement the dyndns idea (others, including myself, have requested it in the past) when there's a big enough need for it. From being on the forums for a while, I can tell you that they have a large number of feature requests...and this is not one of the most requested ones. It would be nice to have, though.

First of all, please stay positive on the forum, no need for people who can't read ... as I am trying to find the "I NEED, " the sourcecode ?! ...I only said that if they want I can offer "FREE OF CHARGE" the fact of implementing the inadyn code into the source of the program, I sincerely don't give a rats @ss about the source code m8, so I am failing to see the point of your post. Anyhow, as the problem is indeed fixed, it s creating overhead for the servers so my solution of this inadyn is only helping them to make the program even better, and I am sure they are able to put it in themselfs, so that said, true for 5 dollars you get good support but again, that ain't the point, if you want, go check US LAW art book, where it says "any service/goods/products which have been paid for are liable for .. and it will be a real wake up call to you, the amount is of no importance, it s the fact that you pay for something that wasn t working correctly and now it is

so please only add constructive comments or nothing at all, thx

Regards

iCamSource does have a feature to handle this particular situation, but it needs to be enabled manually.  I'll be sending  you a PM with information about enabling the feature.  We'd prefer not to post the info in the forum since the problem is rare, but the solution adds significant overhead to our servers.

Would be eager to get this solution as well as for now I've switched to another "dyndns" supported competitor solution. Indeed static ip's here in europe you need to pay extra for it, and most people are on 24H dynamic ip. But I am not understanding the overhead problem, since you don't need to do anything on the servers ? The server only receiving IP (or updated ip) as if you were pressing STOP/START on icamsource, so where's the overhead ?

If you would just add Dyndns name (on/off turnable) into icamsource , the only thing icamsource has to do is NOT read your WAN IP from the net, but just read the IP from the entered DYNDNS name if turned ON, else it does bizz as usual. So where's the overhead for the servers ? Hence you can have icamsource check dyndns ip every 1 minute even : if ip =| same -> do nothing , if ip is different -> update IP on server, done ... where's the overhead ?

AS i said it before, the source for this you can actually get from sourceforge (lookup inadyn) which works with no-ip and dyndns, if you are unable to program this into icamsource, I am willing to do it myself, give me the source for it and i ll compile this into the program within 10 minutes, hence it's so damn easy !

Easy solution :

Now your program acts like this :

When start is pressed, it contacts the usa broker servers and the IP it connects with is stored on your server and broadcasted to LAN??/WAN users (I don't see the point of the other people on LAN first going to broker server and back to home, but hey, whatever) .. anyhow .. SO now we add a case to the icamsource program called MY DYNDNS : (can be obtained for free at www.dyndns.com) or dlink routers have a free one, etc etc .. so now when pressing START the program checks for the dyndnsname, nslookup the name, get's the ip and THAT IP is send to the broker server and just create a 5 minute interval of polling with nslookup :

now just program a 5 minute interval of icamsource checking the IP of the given dyndns name, if changed, then send changed ip to broker server, if not, do NOTHING ... hence this is like 10 minutes work of coding ...

Are you on a Windows machine? If so, you could write a couple of batch files that you could set to run every day shortly after the IP update....one to kill icamsource.exe (use taskkill command) and then a minute later a second one to restart icamsource.exe. If you're on Windows and need help setting this up, let me know.

That sounds like a really messy solution. Running a script ? Seriously ? Just read my post here : http://skjm.com/forum/index.php?topic=1622.0

It's soooooo easy to build in inadyn into icamsource, and the only thing the icamsource has to do is check the dyndns the client filled in and if ip changes send an update to the broker server. And Inadyn sources are FREE on sourgeforge... What is the problem ??

Just as a test :

1. Rebooting router (to simulate isp ip change)
2. starting Icam on Iphone , both LAN and WAN
3. "Can not connect ....."

Only possible way to update now is STOP/RESTART icamsource( s ) ...totally unacceptable. Rendering camera surveillance absolete.

There are plenty of inadyn sources on sourceforge available, so if added to icamsource, with people who created a free dyndns or no-ip for that matter, the problem would be solved.

Hi, thx for the reply but you are missing the point here,

Here in europe, a dynamic ip from your isp is very simple, it decides on random occasions to renew your ip, this usually happens once a day. When this happens and ICAMSOURCE is running, it will NOT detect the new IP and send it to your server thus making WAN connections impossible. This is a major flaw in your icamsource program. Why can't you just add (like athome camera http://www.sunraynetworks.com/athome_camera_lite.html from sunray) where i just set my own created DYNDNS and own PORTS or PORTRANGE , without neccessarely going over peer servers.

Now it's :

Icamsource , contacting 65.42.57.134:12613/66.116.97.150:12613 , ip received, login/pass received , waiting for "login/pass" combination from wan.

Problem with this setup is that Icamsource has no INTERVAL POLLING of "ip received", so no updating when the client IP changes (isp dynamic ip).

So why not adding in icamsource
Login :
Pass :
IP/DYNDNS :
Portrange :

This way i can add my own dyndns (witch is updated by my router) and own portrange and open ports in router accordingly to the portrange selected.

Now from the iphone or web i can just connect to my OWN DYNDNS ADDRESS and PORTRANGE to watch the camera's, not depending on the USA servers.

If we would leave on holiday how in heaven's sake we re going to run "what's my ipaddress and email the new ip ? Also why botter to have a camera surveillance program if we have to spend the entire day checking if it works untill the ip changes and we need to do this email thingy of yours ?! Thats ridiculous, don't you think ?

iCam Support / Icamsource add dyndns and port to choose (or range)
« on: February 23, 2011, 01:16:03 PM »
I don't understand why Icamsource has to connect to YOUR servers first in order to work for it outside, as this is obviously NOT working when your router at home, on dynamic ip from the isp, changes to another ip. Then you need "AT HOME" stop and restart the icamsource (totally bogus thus).

So why isn't there a straight connection to your home network trough dyndns ? (icamsource dyndns : blabla.dyndns.tv) and port range XXXX to YYYY which i can set manually and set my router port forwarding accordingly ?!

The fact that this is connecting to your servers and only based on login/pass looking for the right one is actually raising privacy issues. Are you actually watching these camera's yourself , as these are your server-based stored logins ?

So please add your own HOST/PORT RANGE setup in Icam for iphone. (like all others doe icamviewer for instance) and on the server your own DYNDNS and PORT RANGE, witch multiple user logins maybe ?
