USB RJ45 Extension adaptor for using on USB Camera's

Hi

I purchased the following from amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Neewer-USB-RJ45-Extension-Adapter/dp/B004XYEXX4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1315396743&sr=8-1

my aim was to basically extend the usb camera over a Ethernet cable Cat6. i can not get icam source to see the usb web camera it powers up both led's on my Logitech Sphere and Teck Net C016 Web Cam's i have test this lead on both a Pc and Mac still no joy.

Does any one know why this will not work or if anyone has a set up simular ie extending the usb port Please let me know :0)

Hi, i used to extend for 20 metres using a usb to cat 5 converter, (20 metres of cat 5 ethernet cable), the results were patchy at best, gave it up in the end and moved over to usb repeater extension cables, you can pick up a 20 metre one for £20, 30 metres seems to be double that price, anyway, works great, and my'n are outdoors effectively. IMO icam is a great prog, but if you start adding in any coverter the reliability factor can lessen greatly.
