I had the same problem and tried mounting these cameras on the side of the window. I ended up returning the cameras as they were inconsistant in response to their own software and had to be rebooted too frequently.  So I use EZWatch PC DVR software and CCTV cameras for two locations.  And you guessed it- it does not have the ability to flip the image and cost a lot more money. The dome interior cameras don't have enough room in them to invert the cameras on their mounts even though their product description says ceiling or wall mount.

So even the "professional" gear has stupid limitations.  I still use icam and ManyCam- turned out to be an effective, reliable and low cost solutions.

I have used microwave and fiber to connect buildings.  Cost has come down significantly since then and both solve any potential issues with grounds. Or have a survey done of your electric installation and fix any deficiencies. If you follow the feeds into your buildings you may be surprised to see they come from the same point.

I have 4 cctv cameras and looked into how this might be done.

I have used ManyCam on the PC, with iCam, to rebroadcast the screen that is the remote view of the PC in another state with the 4 cctv cameras. So iCam and many cam is running on the local laptop which has an application designed to show me the 4 cctv cameras that are displayed on the remote PC.  But if the USB converter works it would be the better method.

iCam Support / Auto brightness and contrast

Is there some way for iCamSource to have the camera adjust automatically for brightness etc? In the daytime the camera in the carport is overwhelmed by the bright daylight beyond the carport.  At night the background is then too dark as the camera does not adjust gain automatically.

I have INetAlertView also and the camera adjusts automatically for brightness and I would like to find how to have iCamSource do the same.  Thanks

In some cases that would be helpful.  I find that managing the motion records is a pain. Each motion event creates a folder and within the folder are the motion frames. I am looking for a faster less tedious method to take a quick look at and delete the motion event folder if the image frames are of no significance.

The camera that watches the back alley catches lots of motion, some real, some headlight reflections of a car making a U turn, some from the alley cats out mousing and some from real people looking for items to steal (Baltimore City).  I want to click through the motion folders and see the frames to tell if I should look at the detail or just delete.

Perhaps a picture management software would enable this to be done rather than clicking back and forth.

Has anyone found a useful utility for reviewing and deleting motion videos?

When on the road I use the iPhone to check but when home I like to take a quick look and then delete.  Since the motion videos are files for frames within a folder, it takes a lot of mousing and clicking back and forth to do a review and then delete. I use my Win7 laptop to get to the directory on the iCamsource  XP laptop with Windows Explorer.

Well, hit me with a brick. It says "Connected to Server" but the login name is different than the XP PC. I wonder who did that!!! 

And of course it works fine if I use the correct login on the iPhone to get to the Win7 PC. Somedays I should not play with technology......

Stopped working on my Win7 laptop, iCam v2.2.1 - No sources found with 3G and WiFi trying auto-config and port forwarding
Still works fine on my XP laptop, iCam v1.4.2.6 with 3G and WiFi in both auto-config and port forwarding modes.
Router N300 Net Gear.

I have done that using ManyCam. In iCamSource you choose ManyCam as the video source and in ManyCam you choose the PC screen as its source. You will need to send the DVR output to the PC running iCamSource either by remote or some method.

In my case I use the DVR remote viewer on my PC and set it to display the 4 cameras. ManyCam reads the PC screen and iCamsource picks up the video from ManyCam and sends it to the phone. Clunky and more net intense since in my case the DVR/PC is in another state.

We need the support and an iCam Lite does not help pay for it.  If one has a PC and camera(s) and time to mess with it then one can afford to buy the app.

I thought that would be the answer.  My XP laptop that has lost its space bar was going to go to granddaughter who is almost entirely mousing at age 4-1/2 and has learned my technique of using a paperclip to touch the space key contact for a space. The really old Compaq Win2K laptop was going to go on the kitchen cabinet to handle the camera in the window where my Jeep was broken into.

Hmmm. Back to drawing board and search for wireless net cams again.  Sigh.[/

iCam Support / Error in starting iCamSource in Win2K

The new this weekend Win 7 laptop has displaced the XP Dell that lost the space key and an old Win2K Compaq is being retired to do iCamSource duty. It has been fun getting them connected so I can copy years of stuff to the new machine.

I downloaded the latest iCamsource to install on the Win2K Compaq. Changed the IP config to use 1.104 static to match the port forwarding. 

The iCamSource install completed.  When I click on iCamSource it gives me an error:
The procedure point entry getnameinfo could not be located in the dynamic link library WS2_32.dll.

I can get to the Win2K Compaq from the Win 7 PC and the Win2K can get to the internet.

Where is getnameinfo? Not used in Win2K?

Thanks Anthony.  I am returning the Linksys cameras to Best Buy to try something else.  Too much trouble with their setup.  After 3 or 4 logins to the cameras to make changes, they begin to slow down to the point where you get the screens but fields are blank and then they grind to a complete halt. They must be power cycled too frequently to be dependable. Perhaps a higher end camera is more appropriate and one that will play nice with the Netgear wireless n router.
  So am walking to Best Buy when the sidewalk snow melts (how convenient is that) to see what else to try.

I have iCam working on this new stuff. Manually adding the port forwarding did not work, checking Turn UPnP On did. Both cameras appear on the iPhone. 
 Using the Cisco/Linksys utility from their CD to set up remote view/access from the Internet is not working. The utility requests the router's username and password and then say it is checking it and then comes back as not a valid entry.  I know it is a valid username and password because it works to log into the Netgear using IE8.  The Cisco utility will try a second time to test the router's usr and pswd  and then gives Error 101 and the you are screwed message which says you can not set up remote access for the cameras if it can not get the router info into the camera.

I did not see a place to add this router info to the cameras in the camera direct direct setup via the IE8 browser.  I have not gone to TZO.com or DynDDS.com yet to set up a hostname. 

Does anyone have a similar equipment setup? Am I missing something here?  I also want to of course access the router remotely also but one thing at a time is a good start.  Thanks
