: Version 2.4.2
: Merlin November 23, 2011, 06:56:41 PM
I upgraded to Version 2.4.2 from 2.4.1.  I wasn't having any issues before, but now I am getting a Runtime error. The error says Specifically;

Microsoft C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program C:\Program Files\iCamSource\iCamSource.exe

The application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an
unusual way.

Please contact the application's support team for more information.

This happens everytime.  I have restarted the computer several times and I am running Microsoft Vista.

Please help....

It's possible that the registry key has somehow gotten into a bad state.

Please download and run (double-click) this file: http://skjm.com/icam/CleaniCamKey.reg
 (http://skjm.com/icam/CleaniCamKey.reg)
That will erase the current iCamSource settings in your registry. You will need to re-enter all of your settings, but hopefully the problem will be resolved if it's due to a problem in the registry.

I actually saw you had posted that for another person and tried that already.  I am still getting the same error.

Okay I've uninstalled iCamSource, reinstalled it and tried once again to run the registry link provided.  It shows the picture of the USB camera for just a second and then crashes with the exact same message.

PLEASE HELP, no camera....

You could try uninstalling 2.4.2, cleaning your registry settings (using the CleaniCamKey.reg file), deleting the C:\Program Files\iCamSource folder, and then downloading and re-installing 2.4.1 to see if you still have crashing issues: http://skjm.com/icam/iCamSetup2.4.1.exe

I uninstalled 2.4.2, ran the registry key and installed 2.4.1......When I run the program it crashes and it says at the top of iCamSource 2.4.2.  What am I doing wrong?

okay I finally got it to work....I had to do these things in this order

delete iCamSource file under C:/programs files/iCamSource

uninstall C++ and it's updates

uninstall iCamSource

cleaned registry with your program

Reinstall 2.4.1 and it works.

I even went back and tried these steps and installing 2.4.2 and it did not work.

How many cameras are you running and what is the Brand/Model of each?
: Re: Version 2.4.2
: Merlin November 28, 2011, 06:59:12 PM
I use a total of 4 wireless and 3 USB.  Three of the wireless cameras are the Cisco Linksys Wirelese N WVC80N.  The other wireless camera is the Airlink 100 AICN1777W.  The USB cameras I use are varied; 1 X-Box camera, 1 Gigaware (I believe it is the 25157) and a HP WebCam 2100.

The code differences between 2.4.1 and 2.4.2 should only effect USB cameras. You can try to isolate which camera is causing the problem by running iCamSource with only one USB camera to see if it crashes. Then try that same test two more times with each of the other USB cameras. If it crashes with one of the cameras, but not the other two, that might indicate that the camera's drivers have a problem with the new code.

So far it appears to be the X-Box camera.  Disappointing since it had worked so well for all the other versions.

On a brighter note everything worked through the night without crashing.  I am back on-line.  Love the product!  I guess this gives me an excuse to go by the Logitech QuickCam Orbit MP or AF.  What is the difference between the two that you recommend?

We should have a test version available for you to try tomorrow.

Today I went out and got the Logitech QuickCam Orbit AF.  I hooked it up and went through all the updates including one for windows.  I received the errors again....

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!
Program C:\ProgramFiles\iCamSource\iCamSource.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I had disconnected the x-box camera previously and all the wireless cameras had been working great without any crashes.  It's just when I plug in a USB camera that it seems to crash.  I've tried 4 different USB cameras and they all crash.

I cleaned the registry again reset up just the new Orbit camera and it crashed.

I am using an older computer to run iCamSource, but it has served me well with all other versions.  It is a Dell Atholon(tm) 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ 2.30 ghz 2.00 GB of RAM and a 32 bit Operating System.

I also reinstalled 2.4.1 again with no issues to the USB cameras....

Didn't know if I had been clear but I still want to upgrade to 2.4.2.  I bought the Logitech QuickCam Orbit AF specifically for the new version.  I believe I cannot control the camera until I get that version.  Please Help....

Does iCamSource crash for just the XBox camera or all USB cameras you've connected?

Also, we'd like to try a test with the Orbit. Please clear the registry key, then run just the Orbit camera in iCamSource and let us know if it crashes.
: Re: Version 2.4.2

iCamSource crashes for all USB cameras.  I had already cleared the registry with your link and just setup the Logitech QuickCam Orbit AF only and it crashed as well.  I tried all the webcams I have and they crashed (Logitech QuickCam Orbit AF, X-Box camera, Gigaware (I believe it is the 25157) and a HP WebCam 2100).  None of the wireless cameras crash when there are no USB cameras hooked up (3 - Cisco Linksys Wirelese N WVC80N, 1 - Airlink 100 AICN1777W).  When I downgrade to 2.4.1 they all work perfectly.

The test version is available for you to try at: http://skjm.com/icam/iCamSource2.4.2a.exe (http://skjm.com/icam/iCamSource2.4.2a.exe)

You can run the executable from any folder, such as the Desktop.

Okay that's much better....all my USB cameras and WI-FI cameras work with this version.  I'm sure this is a prelimary version, but I wanted to let you know that I can not move the Logitech QuickCam Orbit AF on my phone with this version.

Glad it is working. Yes, it is a preliminary version, with the PTZ functionality removed.
: Re: Version 2.4.2

Thanks for everything!  I look forward to using the PTZ in the future with the USB Logitech Orbit.  I can't say enough good things about the support.

You're most welcome.

We've made another test version that includes the PTZ controls for you to try:  http://skjm.com/icam/iCamSource2.4.2b.exe (http://skjm.com/icam/iCamSource2.4.2b.exe)

Please let me know if it crashes on your computer. If it doesn't, please let me know if it controls your Logitech Orbit.

OUTSTANDING!
  No crashes thus far....and PTZ control for the Logitech Orbit works over the network and 3G.  I'll run it all night and let you know in the morning if there are any issues.

Okay just one little issue.  The up and down PTZ controls appear to be reversed from other PTZ cameras you have setup.  As of right now still running smooth.

No crashes or issues other than the one I wrote above.  Nice work....

The tilt control is flipped because there are 2 versions of the Logitech Orbit and they respond to the tilt command in opposite ways. Please try this test version: http://skjm.com/icam/iCamSource2.4.2c.exe (http://skjm.com/icam/iCamSource2.4.2c.exe)

That fixed it.  Everything has been running smoothly for the evening.  Thanks for everything...

Our developers have made an installer for you with the fix that will update the version of iCamSource that's installed on the computer so that you don't need to run the test version from the desktop anymore.  You can get the installer here: http://skjm.com/icam/iCamSetup2.4.3.exe (http://skjm.com/icam/iCamSetup2.4.3.exe)
