Playstation Eye not showing correctly
« on: July 31, 2009, 01:56:50 PM »
I have my PS Eye hooked up to my iMac.  Using the Macam drivers and its viewing program the camera works fine.  I also tested the camera using Evocam and it works there as well.  When I try to use the PS Eye and iCamsource the following is what the image looks like:

Any ideas I can try?  Using 1.3.2 of iCamsource.

Sony HD Eye SLEH 00201

Are you using the latest version of the Macam drivers?  There was another user that had a similar problem with a different camera, and it was resolved when he deleted the camera drivers and installed the latest version.

Same camera, same driver version, same problem.   Would be great to be able to use this cam with this program!  It works flawlessly with google chat (video chat looks good and works on a mac) --- I tried this on 3 macs (others do not have any other sort of installed drivers such as google video chat) and they do display the same error (or weird video shown above).

Very strange. I am going to be making a test version of the iCamSource in the next day or two that will create a log file that you guys can then send to me to see if I can determine what the issue is.

If you could download and run the version detailed here and post what it says your camera's video format is, that'd be great.

Thanks. :)

I downloaded the latest cvs build of macam and I can get it working in icam source now if I set the camera up for SIF 320x240 and 25fps or lower in macam.  I can't set it for any vga setting and 30fps in SIF won't work either.  In that version of icam source you had us download the camera shows as None 640x480 Millions+    If I try any other setting in macam and then go into icamsource it won't show any camera info.

This is on my imac, trying on my macbook now.

Okay so with the latest cvs of macam on my macbook I can run 640x480 30fps but in icamsource it still shows as None 640x480 Millions + but is working fine.  Seems to be working with this version of icamsource now.

I did the same thing (latest CVS build, Feb 2009) - and changed the settings to SIF 320/240, and it reports None,640x480, Millions+, and seems messed up only in the left-middle now (see pic vertical visual-noise along path of fishtank) - may be something totally unrelated.

Very interesting ... Thank you for the updates and for trying those things out.

Odd that the latest CVS build is from February, but at least you are getting better results with the iCamSource! :)

So do I have to have Macam and iCam Source both running in the background to get this to work?

Yes, I believe that is correct. Macam to allow your webcam to communicate with Mac OS X, and the iCamSource to accept connections from iCam.

I got my EyeToy to work right with Macam and iCam, but I upgraded to Snow Leopard.
I downloaded fresh copies of Macam and iCam, and it doesn't show as a video source in iCam.
Macam seems to work fine.
