iCam Support / Foscam FI8910W and iCamsource 2.6
« on: March 04, 2016, 12:17:27 AM »
I just received a new Foscam FI8910W camera today and got it set up on my network. Also have port forwarding set up so that I can see the camera from outside my network on various IP camera iPhone apps.

I have iCamsource 2.6 running on a dedicated computer with one other camera program running two Trendnet cameras that I can't get working on iCamsource. iCamsource has 4 Airlink IP cameras (3 are at a remote location) and 2 webcams. This program has been very stable for a few years.

I have iCamsource 2.8 on a laptop that I use for testing and isn't left on. I was able to get the new Foscam camera working on 2.8 using:

http://ipaddress:port/video.cgi

I put the username and password in the normal boxes and was able to get an image. The SKJM website to test for video strings showed an image at /snapshot.cgi but that didn't work in 2.8.

I tried to add the Foscam camera to iCamsource 2.6 and was not able to get an image. Do I need to update to 2.8 to be able to get an image? I have a fear that if I download 2.8 that I won't be able to get the other 6 cams working.  :-\

Any update to adding H.264 and/or Digest Authentication to iCamsource?

Thanks,

Bob

Recently purchased a Trendnet TV-IP320PI outdoor camera as it is rated to -20*F and can use POE. Coldest temps I saw this past winter was -24*F. The camera's main stream is H.264 and I am using that format with Trendnet's ProView software running on a dedicated computer that I also use for Icamsource. Icamsource is running with 2 local webcams and 1 Airlink IP camera and 3 Airlink IP cameras at a remote location.

The Trendnet camera uses H.264 video as its mainstream and has a substream that is selectable for H.264 OR MJPEG. I have the substream set to MJPEG, 640x480 and 2fps. I have been using a separate session of Icamsource (different password) so I don't have to keep stopping/starting my primary Icamsource. My goal is to get Icamsource to see the MJPEG image so that I can add an outdoor Trendnet camera to my remote location and run it from home like I do the remote Airlink cameras. I have tried all of the known video url's on SKJM's website plus all of the ones I found online and cannot get an image to show on icamsource. I have tried them with and without a loging:password in the http string. I have also tried changing a "1" to a "2" for channel designation for some of the video url's since it is a substream. One reason I bought this camera was because it was compatable with MJPEG. Any help would be appreciated.

FYI.....The IR illumination on this camera works pretty good, except that bugs and spiders are attracted to it. The camera is mounted under the eave of my house. I blanked off the IR LED's with aluminum tape with duct tape over that and left a cutout for the day/night sensor. I bought a sub-$10 IR illuminator and mounted it about 5' below the camera and adjusted it in the center of the camera view and is working good. I sprayed bug/spider spray around the area of the camera, IR illuminator and around the outside of the windows where my other cameras point outside from inside of the house. I also use a 10' piece of 1" PVC with a duster stuck in the end and use it to wipe stuff off of the cams/windows when something gets on them.

iCam Support / Burglary
« on: March 04, 2013, 05:51:32 AM »
The inevitable finally happened again at my remote location (hunting camp). This past Thursday, a burglar broke into my camp. He looked at the cameras that were point out of the front window. I keep a dusk to dawn light on and was able to get a half face image. He had a ski mask on, but hopefully enough of his face was showing for the state police to catch up with him. I had 2 IP cams, 2 Logitech webcams and a computer there for the webcams. I use Dropbox for saving the images. The only thing he took was the computer. I'm guessing that he thought he stole the images from the cameras. I have a motion light inside of the camp to come on to get good images for the camera that is pointed at the door, but it failed to come on. Grrrrrrrrrrr!!!! I fixed it the other day when I went down there to secure the door. I'm not going to replace the computer and just use IP cameras running on Icamsource on my home computer. The 2 IP cams were already running at home using a host domain anyways, so no learning curve needed.

After corresponding with the state police since the incident, it appears that the thief had broken into 2 other places that night. I wish they would come around when I was there!! Today I will be ordering a new entry door.

iCam Support / Cannot connect to Icam on DroidX on 3G
« on: February 09, 2013, 05:56:01 PM »
I've been using Icam on my DroidX (Verizon Wireless network) for the last 2 years without any real issues. I have Autoconfig checked and get UPnP success on 2 different Win XP computers that are running Icamsource. Until about a week ago, I was able to connect to Icam on 3G with no issues. I can connect to Icam on my DroidX on WiFi (my WiFi at home and others). The odd thing is that my GF can connect to Icam on 4G on her Iphone 5 on AT&T. Icam on my DroidX is 1.5.2 Any ideas?

iCam Support / Computer suggestion request
« on: August 24, 2012, 04:02:38 PM »
Quick overview: I currently have two Windows XP desktops running Icamsource, one at home and one at remote location.

Remote computer is a generic XP Pro and I can remote into is when there is an issue. There is nothing else running on that computer except Icamsource and cpu usage is low. 2 Logitech Pro 9000 webcams and 1 Airlink IP cam are running on that computer.

Home computer is a Dell Dimension 2400 with XP Home edition. Icamsource is running 1 Logitech Pro 9000 webcam and 3 Airlink IP cams (2 at remote location and 1 at home). CPU usage is as high as 95%. I would like to replace this computer with a new Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate and be able to run up to 4 webcams and 4 or more IP cams. I want to be able to remote into this computer. Any recommendations for a PC based computer to be a wazoo Icamsource machine >$1000. If a Mac computer will do all this I'm open, but know nothing about them. Thanks.

Network / IP Camera Compatibility / IP Cameras in use and recommend.
« on: December 05, 2011, 06:24:04 AM »
I got my first IP camera almost a year ago and wasn't very happy with it until I read a lot of posts here. Never thought that I would be proficient at port forwarding and setting up a host domain. I just received my third IP cam and a fourth one is on the way. All cams are Airlink, I like the SkyIPCam app on my Android phone. All cams set to 2 fps and are stable.

Remote location:
Airlink AICN747W, wired to router, pointed inside for view of room by pan/tilt.
Airlink 1620W, wired to router, pointed outside.

Home location:
Airlink AICN1747W, wireless connection, pointed inside for view of room by pan/tilt.
Airlink 1620W, wireless connection, pointed inside.

SykIPCam app is cool in the event computer or Icamsource has an issue, I can still view the Airlink cams as long as there is an internet connection and the router is on.

I know this an IP cam section, but I also use 2 Logitech Pro 9000's at remote location and 1 at home. Very happy with the setup.

Update: Received the Airlink 1620W and got it set up last night. I use the following URL for all of the Airlink cams:

http://hostdomain.dyndns.org:port/cgi/mjpg/mjpg.cgi and selected the JPEG button.

iCam Support / Icam lagging during the day.
« on: November 07, 2011, 06:31:02 AM »
This is more of a general topic, but I could use some help.

I am having a strange issue with Icam connecting to Icamsource running on my home desktop between 6:30am and 6pm, approximately. Desktop is an older Dell with XP Home edition, 2Ghz, 2G ram, 8G of unused hard drive. I have been running Icamsource 2.3.1 for quite a while with one Logitech Pro 9000. I added an Airlink 1620W recently. During the evening until early morning, when I open Icam, I see all 3 cams at my remote location and the 2 cams at home instantly. From 6:30am to 6pm, the remote cams pop up instantly and the home cams lag. Sometimes the Logitech will come up after a minute or so and the IP cam will time out. Even when I just had the Logitech cam, it still lagged coming up.

Remote computer is getting its connection through Fairpoint DSL with a brigded modem and Netgear router. Home computer is on Comcast economy package with a Netgear router.

I did a test the other night with a Windows 7 laptop. I ran Icamsource all day using the built in webcam. It connected all day while the 2 cams on the desktop lagged or didn't connect.

Last night, I removed all unused programs on the desktop. Added Malwarebytes and did a full scan. 3 .5 hours later and 9 infected files, I rebooted it and then started Icamsource. All was fine until around 6:30am this morning. Remote cams come on immediately and home cams lag or don't connect. I suspected Comcast, but the Windows 7 laptop didn't have an issue connected wirelessly to router on same network as desktop. Desktop is running near 100% CPU when Icamsource is running, with 1 cam or 2 cams. Anyone have any ideas?

Network / IP Camera Compatibility / Airlink 1620W
« on: October 16, 2011, 05:12:59 PM »
I purchased an Airlink 747W ealier this year and I like it for indoor use. I have it at a remote location and am able to see it on the web with port forwarding. I can also see it on my Android phone using the SkyIPCam app. I wished that Airlink made a similar camera like the 747/777 pan/tilt cams without IR or be able to turn off IR because I want to point it outside and don't want the IR glare on the window. I like the SkyIPCam app, so I ordered an Airlink 1620W. Spec sheet shows that it uses MPEG4 and MJPEG, so I'm assuming it is compatable with Icamsource in MJPEG mode.

I don't see the 1620W listed anywhere on this forum. Or its PoE counterpart, 1620PoE. Has anyone tried either of these two cams?

iCam Support / Airlink 747W and port forwarding
« on: October 02, 2011, 10:06:11 AM »
I decided to start a new post since my previous issues were resolved.

I installed a desktop Windows XP Pro computer at my remote location and had 2 USB webcams and 1 IP cam (747W). Everything would work for a day or two. The IP cam kept dropping out after a day or so. The USB cams would continue to run for up to 5 days or so, then the iCamsource program would crash. I go there every weekend and will be until early December. I attempted to set up Remote Desktop on the remote computer so I could restart everything from home. No luck. I have an XP Pro laptop that I am able to Remote Desktop into from my other computers when I have it on my home network: can see it internally and externally with port 3389 forwarded in the router and using dyndns domain that I set up. Cannot see the desktop internally or externally when at the remote location. The RDP listening port is 3389. I brought the computer home for troubleshooting. The USB cams are now "dummy" cams pointed out of the windows.

Next issue: I left the IP cam connected to the router. I have DSL with a Westell 7500 modem/router that I bridged so it is just a modem now, or so I think. I then installed a Netgear router, WRN2000v2. I have the same router at home and am familiar with it. I actually installed the Netgear router last week hoping to get the IP cam stable, but still had drop out issues. Since I couldn't Remote Desktop to the remote computer, I decided to use the IP cam like it was intended for now. I forwarded port 80 to the internal IP address of the IP cam, 192.168.1.xxx. With the dyndns domain, I could see the IP cam when on my network at remote sight. I turned on Remote Management for the router and could see it when using the external IP on a laptop when on my network at remote sight. I went to a local library with WIFI and cannot see the router or IP cam. Turned off router remote management and left IP cam in place. Tried seeing it from home and cannot.

So, is there a possibilty that the Westell modem is blocking my ports when attempting to see externally? If so, does anyone have a fix?

As far as the remote desktop issue, I will work on that separately from this forum, unless someone as some ideas. I understand the basics of RDP and firewall rules, but I am defintely missing something with this computer. I bought it used and have been searching the web like crazy looking for anything to get it to work like I want. I have Norton Security Suite on it like my other 3 computers.

Thanks for any advice.

iCam Support / IP cam and webcam conflict
« on: August 16, 2011, 10:23:41 AM »
I have a Logitech Pro 9000 connected to a Dell XP desktop computer running iCamsource with no issues. I also have an Airlink 747W that I can connect hardwired to the Netgear router with no issues, but cannot get them on at the same time on Icam. This was a few months ago that I was attempting this and gave up when summer arrived. I've just been running the Pro 9000 for a few months.

Fast forward to now. I purchased a used XP desktop to be used at a remote location connected to a DSL modem/router. Instead of going the "port forwarding" route, I decided to have a desktop there (minus the keyboard, mouse and monitor) with a webcam and the Airlink 747W running iCamsource. I will have the 747W pointed inside and a webcam pointed out of a window. I have been testing the new desktop at home connected to the Netgear router and I have the same issue as my other desktop: I can run a webcam (Intel Pro) solo or the IP cam solo, but not both together.

My initial thoughts are router related, but I'm not sure. Any ideas? Is my logic flawed for having a remote computer without port forwarding to be able to see two cams? Thanks.

iCam Support / Airlink 747W issues
« on: February 06, 2011, 11:53:19 AM »
I am having some isues with my IP cam, 747W. Quick background, I have been using two USB webcams with Icamsource since last summer that are pointing out of windows. Outside of some sunlight induced contrast issues, it has been working pretty good. I recently bought an Airlink AICN747W based on the recommendations I have read on this forum. I liked the IR and wireless features. My goal is to have this cam at a remote location, but i have a lot to learn as far as networking, port forwarding, etc. but for now I am using it at home for the learning curve.

I have done the initial set-up to the IP cam hardwired to the Netgear router. When used wirelessly and used on the same Icamsource program as one of the USB webcams, the IP cam is not stable. It will randomly freeze. Desktop computer is an XP, SP3. I decided to run the cam wirelessly from my laptop, also running XP, with no other cams on that Icamsource program and it did not have the same stability issues. Just yesterday, I connected the cam to the router, hardwired, and ran it with one of the webcams and it has been on since last night with no issues.

I'm not sure if any of the other devices in the household can cause the wireless issues. Router is connected to the desktop. Other devices used on the wireless connection at any given time: 2 laptops, 1 Android phone and 1 iPhone. Any ideas? Thanks.
