cmf815 - Thanks for that. :)

Another user had a similar slow frame-rate issue, but once she had updated her Logitech webcam drivers, it was resolved.

Error Code 14 means that the iCamSource is having problems communicating with your webcam.

Make sure that your webcam is plugged directly into your computer, and not into a USB hub. If it is already plugged directly into your computer, try plugging it in to a different USB port.

Next, try rebooting your computer. If you are still having issues, make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your webcam.

If none of those things help, you can try installing these two operating system prerequestites required by the iCamSource:

Visual C++ Redistributable Package: http://skjm.com/icam/vcredist_x86.exe
.NET Framework: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=333325FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en

Ward - There was an issue previously where a user was experiencing slow frame rates on the iPhone, and the reason behind it was that they had a product called ColorEyes installed: http://www.integrated-color.com/

For whatever reason it was taking over the JPEG compression for their computer, creating exceedingly large images that were taking a long time to transmit from the iCamSource to iCam. Once they disabled ColorEyes, everything worked as expected.

Do you have anything similar installed on your computer? The way we determined this was to connect to their iCamSource with our iCam running in debug mode and see that the image sizes were much larger than they were supposed to be.

If you don't have ColorEyes or any similar product installed, then if you could send an e-mail to support@skjm.com referencing this post then we can continue troubleshooting from there.

iCam Support / Troubleshooting 101 - iCam & iCamSource Error Messages
« on: April 18, 2009, 09:10:31 AM »
UPDATE - We have a new Troubleshooting page that should help explain the possible causes and solutions for many of the more common connection issues: http://skjm.com/icam/help/troubleshooting.php

No Sources Found

There are two potential causes for this error:

1) The login and password on the iCamSource and iCam do not match. (Please note that they are both case sensitive.)
2) The iCamSource on your computer is unable to communicate with the iCam Broker Server.

If you are running Mac OS X and your firewall in System Preferences > Security > Firewall is enabled, make sure that the iCamSource is one of the applications allowed to accept incoming connections.

If you have made sure that your Mac or Windows computer's firewall software is "allowing" the iCamSource to communicate with the Internet, then the next step is to go to http://whatismyipaddress.com/ from your computer and e-mail support@skjm.com what it says your computer's external IP address is so that we can further troubleshoot the problem.

Broker Connection Error

This error message usually indicates that iCam on your iPhone or iPod touch cannot communicate with the iCam Broker Server. This is most likely due to a poor Internet connection (due to a weak cellular signal) or your network not allowing outgoing UDP communication. We can confirm the issue if you go to http://whatismyipaddress.com/ from your iPhone or iPod touch and e-mail support@skjm.com what it says your device's external IP address is.

You can also try connecting via both 3G/EDGE and WiFi, if available, to see if you achieve a different result.

Source Connection Error

This error message indicates that both iCam and the iCamSource are able to connect to the iCam Broker Server, but they are unable to connect to each another.

Please refer to this support forum post for further Source Connection Error troubleshooting information: http://skjm.com/forum/index.php?topic=403.0

Error Code 14 - Render Stream Failed

This error means that the iCamSource is having problems communicating with your webcam.

First make sure that there are no other applications attempting to use the webcam at the same time as the iCamSource.

Visual C++ Redistributable Package: http://skjm.com/icam/vcredist_x86.exe

Solracer - I'm a little confused ... The iCamSource software should be what's giving the Error Code 35. The drivers for your webcam are separate from the iCamSource. They are downloaded and installed from your web cam manufacturer's website.

Here is a page detailing how to install the drivers for the PS3 EyeToy : http://www.iplayplaystation.com/eyetoy-as-webcam/

And I believe this is the page to download the software for your Logitech camera: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/435/4224&cl=nz,en?WT.ac=sc|downloads||dd

« on: April 11, 2009, 10:25:43 AM »
sunnerz - It seems that most Windows installation problems are fixed with a simple reboot of the computer. If that doesn't work for you, I would try downloading the install again to see if that has any effect.

If not, you can try downloading and installing the Visual C++ Runtime Libraries and installing them separately before trying the iCamSource install again: http://skjm.com/icam/vcredist_x86.exe

I hope that helps. :)

Push notification on motion detection was a feature that we were planning on including in the initial release of the iCamSource, but since Push notifications were not available to us at the time, it wasn't implemented.

Now that Push notification has been announced as a part of the next iPhone software update, we are planning on implementing it to coincide with the update's release.  :)

Dean - Nice screenshot. :)

Are you plugging the Xbox cameras directly into the computers or into a USB hub? If you are plugging them into a USB hub, try plugging them directly into the computer, or even try different USB ports.

With the MacBook, have you tried starting the first iCamSource with the Xbox camera and then tried the second one with the Built-In? It looks like you have. When the iCamSource "gives up" does the Start button become enabled again? If so, have you tried re-clicking it? When it is "trying" does the activity light on the webcam come on at all?

Have you perhaps tried selecting different audio sources?

As was stated before, this has worked for a large number of users, so I'm not sure what the issue might be. Do the applications crash at all? Are you also running iChat or any other application that might be attempting to access the camera?

iCam Support / Re: "Source Connection Error" Explanation and Solutions
« on: April 08, 2009, 01:40:18 PM »
kpbkev - For the small percentage of users that do initially have problems with iCam, it is usually that they cannot connect to their computers when connecting from outside their home network. This can be for a number of reasons, and the various troubleshooting steps we take are essential to pinning down the specific cause of the issue.

Dean - What do you mean by "it stops trying"? Also, what version of OS X are you running and what type of MacBook is it? (Processor, memory, etc.)

Have you tried rebooting?
