Yes, finally! :o

We are pleased to announce our first BETA release of the iCamSource Pro that now also includes preliminary support for H.264/MPEG-4 IP cameras!

We developed this feature with the Amcrest IP2M-841B ProHD 1080P camera, and are interested in hearing if it works for other H.264/MPEG-4 cameras that also support RTSP.

To test this new functionality, select the Ethernet / Wi-Fi tab in the iCamSource Pro 1.3.4 BETA, enter rtsp://x.x.x.x (where x.x.x.x is your camera's IP address) as the URL along with the camera's login and password and select the RTSP radio button.

We found that changing the camera's settings to 720p at 15 fps (instead of the default 1080p at 30 fps) worked well, but your mileage may vary. Both video and audio streaming is currently supported.

We currently only have a macOS version available, but will be releasing a Windows version soon.

iCamSource Pro 1.3.4.7 BETA for macOS - http://skjm.com/icampro/iCamSourcePro1.3.4.7.dmg

If you have any other H.264/MPEG-4 cameras that support RTSP we would love to hear how it goes so that we can support as many cameras as possible.

Thanks!  8)

UPDATE: The Windows beta version of H.264/MPEG-4 support is now available here: https://skjm.com/icampro/iCamSourceProRTSP.zip

The download is a zip file containing the iCamSource Pro executable and several library files.  You can extract the zip file anywhere on your computer.  It will create a directory called "iCamSourceProRTSP" which contains several .dll files and an executable file named "WiniCamSource.exe".  Double click the executable file to launch the program.

Note: This beta version of iCamSource Pro requires software libraries from Microsoft.  These libraries are required by lots of programs, so some of you will already have them installed.  If this version of iCamSource Pro crashes when you launch it, that probably means those libraries aren't on your computer.  In that case, you can install the required libraries directly from Microsoft here: https://aka.ms/vs/16/release/vc_redist.x64.exe

If you have any problems with the installation instructions or with the beta version itself, please let us know in this thread.

iCam Pro Support / Cameras Locking Up on Some Macs w/ El Capitan
« on: February 10, 2016, 07:21:41 AM »
We are currently tracking down an issue with both the iCamSource and iCamSource Pro where, for some Mac users, the webcam video freezes within a couple of hours or so when running on Mac OS X El Capitan. We have been unable to replicate the issue up until this point, so we are asking for additional information from the affected users to try and find a common cause of the problem.

Apple provides a way for users to save and send a System Information Report as detailed near the bottom of this support page: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203001

If users who are experiencing this issue could send a generated System Information Report to support@skjm.com in addition to the information below, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

In addition to the System Information Report (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203001) answers to the following questions will hopefully be helpful in tracking down the cause to this issue:
  • Are you experiencing this issue with the iCamSource, iCamSource Pro, or both?
  • How many cameras are you running with the iCamSource / iCamSource Pro?
  • What are the brand(s) / model(s) of the cameras?
  • Approximately how long does it take for the video stream to freeze (minutes, hours, etc)?
  • Are you using the same webcam as the Audio input?
  • Are you still receiving audio when the video stream freezes?
  • When the video freezes, does the "webcam hardware status light" (the LED on the webcam itself or next to the built-in webcam) turn off, or does it remain on?
  • Does clicking the Stop button in the iCamSource, waiting a few seconds, and then click Start again fix the issue? Or do you have to restart the iCamSource completely?
  • Do you know if this issue started happening after installing a specific El Capitan update?
  • Do you run any other apps that access either the microphone or the webcam, like FaceTime, Skype, etc.?
  • If you are only seeing this freezing issue with one webcam but not another, or on one of your Macs but not another, that information would be greatly helpful as well.

If we are unable to replicate the issue ourselves, we may also be asking users to run a logging version of the iCamSource applications that will hopefully give us more insight into the problem.

We will continue to post updates to this discussion thread, and encourage users to post any additional information that they may have.

Thank you again!

With the recent release of iOS 9 and the 3D Touch-enabled iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus we have discovered a couple of issues that we have since fixed and submitted in an update to Apple.

iCam Pro 1.1.1 fixes a bug that was causing the restoration of purchases to fail in iOS 9, as well as fixing bugs related to the tapping and double-tapping of the zoomed-in video on the new 3D Touch iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

A temporary work-around for the purchase restoration issue is to simply attempt to re-subscribe or re-purchase the item(s) that you are wanting to restore. If you are using the same Apple ID that you previously purchased them with, they will be restored without charging you a second time.

As for the 3D Touch-related bugs, iCam Pro is treating some taps on the new displays as swipes unless the user taps or double-taps very lightly. This apparently will be fixed in iOS 9.1 according to Apple (you can read more about it here) but we have come up with a fix that will cause it to act as expected without having to wait for iOS 9.1.

iCam Pro 1.1.1 was submitted yesterday, Saturday September 26, with a request for an expedited review, so hopefully Apple will approve it soon.

iCam Support / iCamSource 2.8 + iMac + Multiple IP Cameras = Crashing?
« on: April 29, 2015, 09:51:22 PM »
With the release of version 2.8 of the iCamSource there seems to be a handful of users who are experiencing a fairly consistent crashing issue. These users appear to be running the iCamSource on iMacs and connecting to Foscam (UPDATE: A user using Linksys IP cameras is experiencing the same issue, so it is not just Foscam-specific.) IP cameras. We are currently unable to replicate the problem with our test Macs and cameras, so hopefully any users that are experiencing this issue can either email us at support@skjm.com or reply to this post to help track down the cause of this issue.

When an app crashes on a Mac, a crash log should be created in your ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports folder. The crash logs will start with the name of the app that created them, so any iCamSource crash log files will begin with "iCamSource". By default the Library folder in hidden in Finder, so here is a quick way to get to it: http://bjango.com/help/crashlogmac/

If the crash log contains [NSBitmapImageRep initWithCIImage:] underneath the crashed thread, then you are likely experiencing the same issue.

For example:

Quote
Thread 10 Crashed:
...
16  com.apple.CoreImage              0x00007fff93f319a5 -[CICLContextImpl implementationWithTargetCGContext:options:] + 37
17  com.apple.CoreImage              0x00007fff93f35279 -[CIContext initWithCGContext:options:] + 88
18  com.apple.CoreImage              0x00007fff93f34af3 +[CIContext contextWithCGContext:options:] + 52
19  com.apple.AppKit                 0x00007fff89673d15 -[NSBitmapImageRep initWithCIImage:] + 497
20  com.skjm.iCamSource              0x0000000104fe6882 0x104fc6000 + 133250
21  com.skjm.iCamSource              0x0000000104fe5103 0x104fc6000 + 127235
22  com.skjm.iCamSource              0x0000000104fd1b0d 0x104fc6000 + 47885
...

In order to further narrow down the cause of the issue, please provide the following information:
  • How many & what type of cameras are you using with your iCamSource? The issue appears to be related to IP cameras. (Foscams in particular) but it may be an issue with other brands as well.
  • What type of Mac do you have? Find this by clicking About This Mac from the Apple menu, as seen here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201260 Please let us know the full description, similar to the MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) from the example. (Again, iMacs seem to be another common denominator.)
  • What version of Mac OS X are you running? Mavericks (10.9.x) or Yosemite (10.10.x)?
  • Approximately how long does it take for the iCamSource to crash? Is it minutes, hours, or days?
  • When the iCamSource is running, is the window left open, showing the preview of the camera video? Or is the window closed, leaving just the iCamSource icon in the top-right corner of the screen in the menu bar, near the clock? (If the window is normally left open, try closing it to see if that helps.)
  • Once the iCamSource is started, open the Activity Monitor application in your Mac's Applications > Utilities folder. Make a note of the iCamSource's CPU and Memory usage after it is first started, and then 15-30 minutes later, to see if either value increases significantly over that time period.
Thank you in advance for helping us track this bug down and squashing it! :-\

Also, if you just want your iCamSource to work again, you can always revert back to version 2.7.2.2: http://skjm.com/icam/iCamSource2.7.2.2.dmg

UPDATE : The issue appears to not only affect Foscam cameras, but other brands of IP camera as well.
UPDATE #2 : This may be an issue with users running multiple IP cameras in the iCamSource simultaneously, as that does seem to be a common factor as well.
UPDATE #3 : Please see the post here: http://skjm.com/forum/index.php?topic=6365.msg19228#msg19228
