iCam Pro Support / Toggle buttons issue on iCam Pro on Android
« on: June 18, 2017, 11:23:18 PM »
Hello, SKJM.

I've been enjoying iCam Pro on the iPhone, but when I switched to Android, I can no longer properly control the toggle switches for motion/notify/record. Sometimes, the buttons will just turn into an outline that just changes shade, when it originally looks like a button that toggles black and white.  When it turns into an outline, the toggles just no longer work, which force me to turn to my family members on iPhones to properly toggle the settings.

While we're at looking into it and fixing the issue, the black and white buttons could be actually confusing, can you make it on/off switches like the iPhone.

Thanks again for a great app.

I sent you my results of the iPv6 test. Is there any way to figure out then implement whatever code you're executing in iSpy prior into iCam Pro then?

I am in New Jersey and the issue persists. I'm just glad you're on top of this, because I thought I was going crazy.

I've definitely rebooted, power-cycled, reset Network Settings, and it's still not working over direct cellular. VPN over cellular, and direct Wi-Fi work fine.

macOS 10.12.2, iOS 10.2 (14C92) and T-Mobile carrier settings version 27.1.

This may be an educated guess, but it appears that the issue could be stemming from a possible change in network connectivity in iOS 10.2.

I can access my home cameras via any Wi-Fi connection, but when it comes to a straight cellular connection, I get that Broker error message.

I also set up a VPN to my home router and that worked over cellular.

I'm only guessing it was due to an update in iOS 10.2 since I just updated my iPhone 7 Plus to it and I also couldn't get my Sphero SPRK+ to work anymore until they issued a software update that 'fixed connection issues in iOS 10.2.'  Their previous version would detect and connect the device over Bluetooth, but then it would fail when trying to connect online to their servers.

Stopped working for me too, recently. Been on Sierra for a while, and I rebooted my Mac as well as my router, not sure when it started having this issue.

In-network is fine, over cellular is getting that Broker message. iCamSource Pro says it's connected to Server, and I even have a Public Proxy set up.

iCam Pro Support / Updating the user interface
« on: May 19, 2016, 12:14:50 PM »
I've been using iCam and now iCam Pro now for several years and it's been a great investment and a program I use almost every day, and while it's a useful app, I think it can benefit from an update or revamping of the app's user interface. Here are some of my suggestions and constructive criticisms that I hope you could take into consideration:
  • The control icons on the right side are sometimes difficult to tap. They often don't register, possibly because of the way that Apple handles the touch control of an icon to its active pixels.  Since the gear is an empty outline, that's usually the icon that takes the most attempts to get my finger to tap it exactly to activate it.
  • The interface sometimes shows a 3x3 or 4x4 multiple video feed view, even when I only have at most 4 cameras. This usually occurs when I have a poor connection or when it reinitializes itself when a new network is nearby, and the app believes I have more than 4 cameras in that instance, which makes the interface switch to a 9 or 16-panel video feed view.
  • In addition to the labels on each of the video feeds, small icons to show the status of its detection/notify/record settings would be nice. Additionally, an indicator on each panel in the multiple video feed view, showing that recent movement or sound was detected on that particular feed would be helpful.
  • Hardcoding a timestamp would be a great addition to the video feed or its captured images.
  • Swiping on a video feed in the multiple video feed view would toggle settings (i.e. swipe up to toggle detection, swipe down to toggle notification, swipe right to toggle recording).
  • Alternatively, for the 4x4 panel view that's big enough, you could add the ability to toggle the advanced settings by tapping once on video feed, and double-tapping on the video feed to go in and out between single and multiple video feed views.
  • Flashing the activated detection zone on a video feed that has that feature enabled and configured.
  • The 'Share' icon in 'View Events' should be a 'Trash Can' or 'Gear' icon, as the function provides the option to 'Delete all Events' and 'Refresh,' and nothing to do with 'Sharing' anything.
  • An actual 'Share' feature should replace the 'Camera' icon in the single feed view, and it should provide the option to save the image to the Camera Roll, as well as sending the image as an attachment in an e-mail, iMessage/text message, AirDrop, or even Copy to Dropbox, Twitter, Facebook, etc.

Hope these give you some good ideas that you could implement or draw inspiration from.  Thanks again!

iCam Pro Support / 4th generation AppleTV support?

Any chance you can make iCam Pro compatible with the new AppleTV? It would be great to see my live feeds on the big screen.

iCam Pro Support / Apple Watch support?
« on: May 01, 2015, 02:57:27 PM »
Was reading a post from a user on the MacRumors forum that iCam now supports the Apple Watch. I've upgraded to iCam Pro a long time ago, so I don't use iCam anymore. Will iCam Pro support it as well, and if so, when can we expect its release? I checked your blog, but it looks like it hasn't been updated in years. Thanks again for a great app.

iCam Support / Re: Labeling the video sources
« on: August 31, 2009, 02:05:57 PM »
While turning off notifications on the iPhone via the Settings panel is a viable solution, wouldn't all the unnecessary notifications being sent from my Macs through your servers be wasteful bandwidth?  That's the reason why I would want the ability to turn it off at the source (pun intended).  I would only need it on when I'm away from my home for a period of time.

I purchased iCam and the push notifications plug-in, and they both work great. You can thank TUAW for premiering your app on the site.

I would like to suggest a few features, which I feel are very viable to implement.  I currently have 4 machines that are running iCamSource.

1. I read that people previously requested delaying push-on-motion until they have at least left the room. I agree with that feature request on the desktop app, but for people with multiple sources like myself, I would like to see the implementation done on the iPhone app level to all the sources simultaneously. Clicking on a button will toggle all sources on and off for push-on-motion.

2. Since I have four sources, it's impossible to tell which is which when all the lights are out.  This is especially difficult when everytime you launch the app, the sources are not loaded in any particular order. Can you add a caption or label in both the single and multiple view modes?

Again, excellent product and I hope you keep up the great work!
