iCam Support / Wi-Fi network clogged by Foscam
« on: December 12, 2012, 11:02:09 PM »
Tonight I got sick and tired of my streaming movies buffering over the internet, so I started running some diagnostics and unplugging things.  I was blown away when I cut the power to my two Foscam 8910W cameras.  They have been absolutely murdering my Wi-Fi.

Using the apps Airport Utility and Speed Test, I took readings several times all over my house.  I quickly found that I'm getting 5 and 2 Mb/s on my iPad and iPhone, respectively, with the Foscams running.  Unplugging them immediately takes me to 16 Mb/s with the iPad and iPhone each.

So this post is not immediately related to the iCam app, but am I the only one who's seeing this, or have others experienced the same?

iCam Support / Suggestions for a good outdoor camera?
« on: August 14, 2012, 10:17:24 PM »
We have had great luck with the Foscam indoor wireless cameras. Now, I am on the hunt for something to cover our backyard. The outdoor Foscams have abhorrent ratings on the Internet. Can anyone comment on a good outdoor wireless camera?

Let me just get this out of the way first: I love iCam.  Your software rocks, and we feel much safer knowing we can log in and see our home while we're away.

Problem: Almost once a week, I get the "No Sources Found" error in the app.  I call my wife at home, she unplugs the cameras from the wall and plugs them back in.  Still no sources found.  I use LogMeIn to connect to the iMac, open Foscam's IP tool, and paste the new local IP addresses (like 10.0.1.9:6001) into iCamSource.  Then we're back in business for another 7 days or so.

Details:
iCamSource 2.4.8 on a late-2011 iMac w/ Lion
Airport Extreme
(2) Foscam FI8910W

Not sure if I'm missing a step here, or if I left out any details.  Please let me know, and I will add them.

iCam Support / Push Notification Works, But Camera Does Not Appear
« on: July 10, 2012, 07:52:42 AM »
I run iCamSource on my iMac and my wife's MacBook Pro. When I get a notification of movement from the MBP on my iPad or iPhone, I open the iCam app and do not see the MBP listed. I only see the iMac.
