Thanks for the response and sorry for not replying sooner.  It is now working, however I am getting duplicates of all of my camera feeds, so, for my three cameras I am getting six feeds total.

Let me know if I still should email support over this issue or if there is another way to clear it up.

Also, even though I only have three cameras, iCam is putting the three cameras into the six panel view on my iPhone, which is a bit disconcerting.

Okay, a little more information.

I left the service disabled (although I'd really like to get it working again) and started messing around with the iCamSource camera settings.  I observed that if I remove camera login/password fields that iCam instantly connects with all three cameras and does not give the previously mentioned error.

However, I still could not see camera #2.  I removed the camera and re-added it with a new name.  This seems to have gotten the camera working, but even on wi-fi I am getting occasional broker connection error messages.

I will try it on 3G next, but not too optimistic that it's going to be reliable.  I verified on my router that my forwarded port range is intact and forwarding properly.  Do I have to use UpNP (I notice I can choose both?) to get connection broker to work properly in this version?

Thanks.

Hi there, I realize that running it as a service is probably not supported, but there are a few pretty detailed threads on the subject (and I've contributed to those) and it's always worked up until now.

I just went ahead and stopped the service and then ran iCamSource manually.  I see that it has a manual port range 12000-12100 that I've forwarded from my router.

The first camera entry comes up immediately, but if I select one of the other two cameras I see a gray screen for a few seconds along with some application text that says "cannot find JPEG data.  Your network IP camera may not be supported".

However, if I wait a few seconds, the video stream comes up (but the error text remains).

Just for grins I tried to configure it with the Auto-Config Router option, it complains that UPnP might not be enabled.

Any further troubleshooting I can do?  As an aside it appears that I can no longer access my cameras via 3G cellular on AT&T either, and that also used to work with no drama.

I run iCamsource as a service and have it set up and configured to talk to three Panasonic IP cameras on my network.  Since updating iCamsource, even if I start and stop the service, I only ever see two of the three cameras.

Anything I can do to fix this?

Aye Cur rumba!  Thanks!  I've been wondering why that wasn't already in there, since it makes perfect sense for a security app!   ;D

Another feature that should be pretty easily to implement would be a toggle on the iCam screen that allows it to keep the application active (similar to a video game or GPS app for example) and prevent it from dimming or locking the screen.

For example, I might be in another part of the house and want to watch my cameras on my iPad because I'm expecting someone.  Currently the application times out and the screen locks every couple of minutes.  I would prefer to just keep it up and running, even if the battery is being drained, until I actively turn it off.

If you revert everything back to your original login / password are then again able to connect?

yes, it appears to be working now with the old login, I guess whatever was stuck in the broker got released.  Also, worth noting that the six camera pane in the iphone and nine camera pane in the ipad coming up temporarily seems pretty consistent, appears to be a bug.... the bug being that initially it comes up with too many empty panes for the number of cameras, then connection broker throws a connection error, then upon re-establishment to the broker it shows the correct number of camera windows (4 windows for 3 active cameras).

Okay, a little update here.

I started up iCam with a different login/password combination and entered this into my i-devices.  Here's where it gets interesting;

1.  It started to work.
2.  on an iPhone 4 it initially showed six tiled camera windows even though there are only three cameras in use.
3.  After a few seconds it kicked another "source" error but then after refresh it was back to the four camera tiled view with my three cameras showing.

So, I think I more or less proved my point, there's something hosed up in iCam broker right now.  Maybe he needs a reboot?  :)

Have you tried re-entering the iCam Login and Password in the iCamSource and iCam?

You may need to reset your iCamSource settings if they have gotten into a bad state. I am assuming that you are running the Windows version, correct? If you download and run the following file your iCamSource registry settings will be reset, so you will need to re-enter the information, but hopefully then you will be able to connect: http://skjm.com/icam/CleaniCamKey.reg

There is also some more information on the No Sources Found error message in our new iCam Help section: http://skjm.com/icam/help/troubleshooting.php#icam1

Yes, I've re-entered the login and password information on both the iCamSource as well as the various i-clients.  Still no dice.  If I disable my iCam service and run it manually I can clearly see it says it is connected to the iCam server, so I know that the PC hosting the software appears to be working correctly (I see all of my video feeds, etc, so I know the settings are correct).

Is there nothing else that can be done from the server side to bounce or bump my login?  I'm still under the impression that my login is "stuck" on the server somehow.  I suppose I could create a new account and test it out which would prove that is the case.

Just yesterday I noticed that iCam on my iPhones and iPad have all stopped working.  The error is an unusual one that I have not seen before,

"No Sources Found"
There are currently no running
iCamSources associated with your existing login and password

 ???

I suspect that my user account is hung on the iCam servers.  Any way to check it out and verify it?  I've restarted the iCamsource service (latest version) on my server box but it has not resolved the issue.

Any thoughts on fixing are welcome.

Got it figured out.  After installing 2.11 I forgot that it still needs to be set to 'auto start' even if it is running as a service.  Seems to be working fine now from what I can tell.

Thanks.

I strongly suspected that removal of the ap paramaters key was all that would be necessary to continue running it as a service but was not sure (and didn't want to run it and have a locked up box, etc).  I will just make that change and keep running it as a service as it is far easier than .bat files, etc, once you have it set up.

Since this thread is stickied I thought it would be a good idea to ask this question here.

Prior to iCamsource 2.x I was running multiple instances of iCamsource.exe as Windows services, so that they would start automatically in the event the machine was rebooted.  Now of course all that is changed what with the ability in iCamsource to set up as many cameras as you want.

I see the 'auto start' option in iCamsource but I expect you must log in to the computer in order to get iCamsource to start up.  My goal is to get iCamsource started automatically if the computer reboots (automatic service pack installation, etc) so that if I'm not home to log in and start it I can still get it to come on automatically when the machine boots.

So, here's my question.  Can I just re-purpose one of my old Windows services to start iCamsource as a service still, but without the AppParameters being set, so that it just starts iCamsource itself?  Is there a better/easier way to do this?

Thanks.

A couple of questions.  I'm not familiar with the .bat file you are referring to and am wondering if you can provide a bit more detail as I also need the ability to have iCam start automatically in the event my WHS server is rebooted.

Previously I was running services for multiple instances of iCam for my three different cameras but it would appear that is not needed any longer.

Thanks!
