iCam Support / Re: Auto open programme @source

Under users and groups in system preferences there is a tab in the lower left corner called login options. There you can select the user you want to automatically log in. You might have to uncheck "disable automatic login" under "Security and Privacy" in system preferences if you had previously enabled that.

I found some roundabout ways of maintaining security with auto login enabled but I think requiring a password after a certain amount of inactivity (applications still run) is sufficient and this too is done under "Security and Privacy."  I think it would take an extraordinarily attentive thief to restart the computer and delete your Dropbox files. You can also remote lock your Mac in OSX lion as you would with an iPhone and or unlink a computer from Dropbox via their website.

For Mac

(to auto-restart iCamSource app)
1) drag iCamSource to dock from applications folder
2) right click on dock icon
3) go to options and check "open at login" (you can then drag it off your dock)

(to auto-restart camera feeds)
4) open iCamSource (preferences) and check "AutoStart" in the lower right corner

(to auto-restart computer)
5) go to system preferences
6) click "Energy Saver" (second row)
7) check "Wake for Network access," "Start up automatically after a power failure," and "Restart automatically if the computer freezes"

iCam runs best on macs.  Get great refurbished deals at http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac. iCam will never stop again!

I also highly recommend dropbox

Sorry for the wait.  I went to "PTZ Settings" under "Device Management," unchecked "disable preset" and checked "goto preset on boot."  Then I clicked submit (it will reboot) and set my preset in the "Live Video" tab.  Both my cameras have stayed in place since doing this.  However they seem to need to reboot themselves every 48 hours and go through their full range of motion only now they return to the correct position.

I think I may have fixed it by changing the boot preset but I am not sure yet. I'll have to see if it happens again over the next few days. On a side note, do you have any plans to support creating presets for PTZ cams?

Is there a way to turn it completely off in the default web app?  The button only seems to turn it off for the rest of the night and I have one pointed out the window so the glare makes it useless.

iCam Support / FI8918W tilts up
« on: February 23, 2012, 04:24:45 PM »
Every couple days I will find one of my FI8918 cams has tilted up by itself.  Both of them do it but I haven't looked through my many motion events to see how often or when they do this. Any ideas on the cause?  Has anyone else experienced this?  It's quite frustrating.
Thanks.

Yes. You set it up as an Ethernet/ wifi cam in icam source with the URL shown on the iPod screen and /video.mjpg after it.

Is the audio toggle in iCam options off or is your iPhone switched to silent?

Dropbox is testing a new beta and if you try it out by plugging in your camera or phone and auto-uploading you can get up to 5 gigabites extra space which makes your total 7 (Unfortunately you cant just use iCam photos).  For every 500MB of photos and videos automatically uploaded, you'll receive 500MB space bonus, up to 5GB.  You can also get 250 MB for every friend you refer. Dropbox works great with iCam. I highly recommend it. Beta- http://forums.dropbox.com/topic.php?id=53808

I would assume audio is not yet supported for axis cams.

After installing this beta I am getting nothing but source connection errors over both wifi and 3g.  I am using 2 Foscam fi8918w cams on a mac.  It worked fine before.

Update: it seems to be working now. The audio is beyond horrible.  However I havent been able to listen through the browser.
