Beta Testing / Re: iCamSource 2.4.5 BETA - Foscam Audio Support
« on: February 22, 2012, 02:17:51 AM »
Because of the great distance between some of my cameras and my router, several cameras have a wired connection to the router.
They get together in a 8 port hub; from there goes a (at least 80 meter) cable to my router, perhaps this could be an issue as well...

I'll check this (plug out the FI8918W camera and then there should be silence).

anyway, it isn't much of a problem, since there is a work around  :)

Hi Steffan,
I don't think the camera produces this background sound...
In IE Browser surface or VLC Player the Foscam FI8905W stays silent.

I assume it's a kind of 'sound leak' in the app if there are cameras installed who does and doesn't have sound...
Would that be possible?

Hi,
back again, just with a note for anyone who uses several different Foscam cameras which support and doesn't support sound.
Those cameras who do support sound (like FI8918W) use: http://192.168.xxx.xxx/video.cgi and MJPEG.

Foscam cameras without sound (like FI8905W) , you better use: http://192.168.xxx.xxx/videostream.cgi and MJPEG.

This way, you avoid the annoying background noise which occur by opening a camera which does not support sound.

Thank you aen,
that was the issue: videostream.cgi does not work if you want to have sound...
It just should be: video.cgi.

Now it works; I reloaded all the cameras, everything is working fine accept for the one Axis cam I use.
The Axis Cam stays silent.
It only gives sound if I use IE browser, ore use the stream:
rtsp://Login:Password@192.168.xxx.xxx/mpeg4/media.amp in VLC Player.
In iCam I use: http://192.168.xxx.xxx/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi?fps=3 it will show the video stream without sound.

Hi,
just tried the BETA width Foscam FI8918W, but there is no sound...

Normally I have about 10 Cams running, for testing the BETA, I cleaned the registry first, installed the BETA and put in just one camera ( Foscam FI8918W ).

This camera runs as it should; only without sound.

I used: http://192.168.xxx.xxx/videostream.cgi and MJPEG.

If I use IE browser on my Windows XP computer, pan/tilt and sound work fine.

If I use  http://192.168.xxx.xxx/videostream.asf?user=xxx&pwd=xxx on my iPhone in the App xyplayer2 I also get sound on my iPhone (without video).

What next?

Hi,

so I tried the settings you suggested and put the fps rate to 14 (=2fps) and that seems to help!
I also found out that axis has a similar setting by just putting the fps parameter option behind the '?'  It is plain, like: ?fps=3  means 3 frames per second and so on.

Thanks for this additional information.

Hi,

in my case the CPU usage isn't much of a problem since I use an extra computer for the surveillance of my small business. If all things are running I get about 26% of CPU usage.
Starting the Program causes up to 90%  of CPU usage, falling down as soon as all cameras are found (ore get black due time out).

The Frame rate setting seems to be a good idea. The cameras it self are all set to 10 fps. But if I open Foscam FI8905 in IE browser, the frame rate is always back to 'max fps' it seems the fps settings are lost as soon as I leave the camera platform. The Axis and Foscam FI8918W cameras seem to store the fps settings properly (I suppose bad firmware in Foscam FI8905).

So, I'll try the additional parameter setting and be back a.s.p.  ;)

PS. what about iCamsource settings in an *.ini file?

Hi,
if all cameras are connected, 10 cameras are running.
1 axis, 3 Foscam FI8918W and 6 Foscam FI8905.

I tried both settings (snapshot.cgi with JPEG and videostream.cgi with MJPEG)
If I use the snapshot settings, it seems to work faster in all, but it does not solve the issue...

iCam Support / Time out for finding Cameras
« on: November 27, 2011, 08:28:31 AM »
Hey,

it often happens, if I run iCamsource (2.4.2), that not all cameras are found in short time.
if so, iCamsource gives an output: 'URL not found, please click Help button bla bla', later on iCamsource finds the camera anyway (not always, but usually it does).

It seems to me, that if iCamsource reaches a kind of time out (during the search for cameras) and let this message pop up assuming the url is obsolete, wrong ore what ever...
In real though, iCamsourse just could not find the camera fast enough!
So, is there a possibility to adjust the 'time out' setting?
If not, could this become a future request?
Ore could it be set in the registry?

by the way, registry..... :o
have you ever thought about putting these kind of settings in an *.ini file
instead of writing it in the (windows) registry?

iCam Support / Re: can some one help me with my pan/tilt camera?
« on: October 29, 2011, 04:44:30 PM »
Hi,
to use pan/tilt in iCamSource with the Foscam FI8918W you should use the url: http://192.168.1.19/video.cgi
To solve the issue with the broken connection, try changing port settings in your router as written in skjm-support.

iCam Support / Re: USB Webcam / WiFi Network IP Camera Recommendations
« on: October 29, 2011, 04:35:09 PM »
I have found that cameras like the Axis 207mw -- now discontinued -- as well as other IP based wifi/ethernet cams from Axis can be set up using a mac only

connect the mac by ethernet directly to the cam's ethernet. The cam should show up in bonjour (under Safari) and can be set up by browser from there

Not sure on the Linksys.

Hi,
I just set up an Axis 207W WiFi Network IP Camera with Windows (XP) not having any problems at all.
I connected the cam (wired) to my router, looked into my router to find out the cam ip.
Then put the (new) ip address I found in my router in IE an did all the settings.
After that, I changed the Cam in wifi an put the following address in the iCamSource:
http://192.168.xxx.xxx/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi this worked out fine  :D
So I think other os as mac will do as well.

« on: October 29, 2011, 04:11:39 PM »
Thank you for this new release!
The Pan/Tilt function is working well with my Foscam FI8918W after I changed the settings from /snapshot.cgi in to /video.cgi, should I also change the JPEG setting in MJPEG ?

In the iCamSource 2.4 preferences next to pwd settings is a select box with numbers from 1 to 16 ... is this a frame rate setting?

Thanks for help

Hi all,

I'm new here and first of all I want to introduce myself.
My name is Conrad, I'm Dutch, living for over 30 years in Germany.
My writing in English is as good as I can and as bad as it is, sorry for that...

I have iCamsource Beta installed on a Windows XP Prof. Sp3 computer with Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Sp1 and Microsoft Visual C++ 2008.
This machine has Pentium 4 with 3.4 GHz and 2.0 GB RAM.

I have 6 Foscam WiFi Cameras running and (had) massive problems with system access violation exceptions just by starting the icamsource.exe.
If the program -once in a while- did not freeze, it went down the moment I started the app at my iPhone. All of the Time however, the CPU usage never got over 60%...

The access violation exceptions looked like this one:

I can't read stuff like that, but I bet some of you guys can...

What ever the cause of this issue might have been, I think I solved it by changing some settings in the icamsource.
Since iCamsource uses JPEG pictures to store motion detection, I thought it might help to change settings in just that way.

On the WiFi URL setting I had (for example): http://192.168.2.5/videostream.cgi and the radio button MJPEG turned on.
Now I changed this in to http://192.168.2.5/snapshot.cgi and the radio button JPEG turned on.
I changed these settings with all the cameras and put all the sliders I found on 'Camera' and 'Motion Detection' in the middle.
From there the program runs (almost) stable!
CPU usage even got down to 7% !

This made me happy, but still raises questions.
How can this be?
Is the need of resources by running videostream.cgi and the Mjpeg files so high that the system hangs up?
Is this what I have done a real solution?
If it is, can this work with other cameras as well?
(since I just have Foscam Cameras I can't say if it will work for other cameras as well)
Could it be useful to make a kind of help file with common possible good (and bad) settings (especially the slider settings; I really don't know what they are all about...)?

Hopefully this was useful for you guys.
Thank you for your time reading all this!

cu
Conrad
