iCam Pro Support / Can additional laptops be used as iCam sources?
« on: August 10, 2015, 12:53:29 PM »
Is it possible to use additional laptops (with built-in web cams) as iCam Pro sources? I have a number of IP cams (connect to iCam Pro) running on our property, which works great, but we also have a number of laptops scattered throughout, with built-in webcams, and it'd be great to be able to utilize them as well.

Thanks,
k.

iCam Pro Support / Camera works in iCam, but not in iCam Pro?
« on: October 21, 2014, 07:52:34 AM »
Is there a reason why a camera would work fine with iCam, but not iCam pro?
It's a basic USB web cam (Future Shop house brand) with audio/video support. Been using it (along with a series of network cameras) for years with iCam, but as soon as I upgraded to iCam Pro (and foolishly, immediately bought the $9.99 "upgrade") the camera no longer works (shows up as a source, but doesn't display video, nor receive audio). If I quit iCam Pro and re-launch iCam, it totally works again. I'd assumed these apps, since they're so close in terms of feature sets, would support the same line of cameras (or, at least the "pro" version would support the cameras the regular version supports, plus more).
Any suggestions?

Running the latest iCam Pro Source (under 10.10, public release) and the latest iCam Pro (under iOS 8.1, public release).

Thanks,
Kristin.

iCam Support / "Talk" to iCam Source (via command line)?
« on: January 22, 2014, 02:16:21 PM »
As I require a little more control over when iCam Source is running, via a schedule, I've written a small AppleScript application that allows me to set a schedule for when the app is activate/inactive (for example, if only want it running when I'm away from home, during the week). This worked out great, but the one issue I had was that sometimes I'd need to override the schedule (for example, if I was away for the weekend, or came home early, etc.). So, I've written a small Universal iOS app that basically lets me remotely enable/disable iCam Source from my iPhone/iPad.

Anyway, I'm going to be incorporating some additional functionality into the app (to manage the schedules) and it got me thinking—is there any baked-in way to communicate with iCam Source from the command line? Right now, it's all-or-nothing (aka iCam Source is either on or off) and was wondering if there'd be a way to enable/disable individual feeds (for example, keep the camera in my garage running while disabling the feeds from the rest of the house). That kinda thing.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Kristin.

Hello.

Is it possible to use another Mac's built-in iSight camera as a source? I have a MacBook Air in another room and wondering if iCam can use this device's camera as a source?

Thanks,
k.

iCam Support / Password protect iCam iOS app?
« on: February 27, 2012, 12:07:51 PM »
Hello.

Is there any way to password protect the opening of the iCam app on iOS devices? Or any other way of making it difficult for anyone with access to the phone to start viewing the streams?

Thanks,
Kristin.
