iCam Support / How to lower network traffic
« on: August 13, 2017, 07:48:26 AM »
Got 7 cameras running 6 are wifi all on the 2.4GHz band.

Upgraded my wifi system to Ubiquiti and this lets me monitor traffic, I found my 2.4GHz is basically flooded I'm using a constant 92-98% of the bandwidth, this would explain I have had the odd issue connecting to cameras and my 2.4GHz browse the internet slow now and then.

Stopping the iCamSource App instantly drops my 2.4Ghz down to about 5% in use from 98% so its' the constant traffic going to iCamSource.

Now I have fiddled with the cameras as much as I can to reduce the image quality and frame rates they give out and I have got the usage down to about 60-70%, but when movement is present they spike and saturate the 2.4GHz again.

What setting in the iCamSource could be made to help this, the sliders for Camera and Motion Detection seem to make a bit of a difference but not drastically.

Which way should the sliders move to reduce DATA flow if that is possible

Any other settings that may help?

Its a pain this software can't handle H.264 think this would help, can't find any software as good, and it's been solid for me for the last 5+ years

iCam Support / My Linksys WVC80N died, what to replace it with?
« on: August 23, 2015, 06:27:36 AM »
Looks like its not been available for some time now.

It was a great camera it lasted me over five years, but now no image and drops from the network if it actually will turn on.

What I liked about it was the design and the image quality for a device with no night vision it was rather good in low light.

Would like a basic camera just like the Linksys I don't need pan/tilt I have foscams for that, in fact I got a new foscam and didn't know it would not work with iCamSource as it's a H264 one :(

Looking around it just seems like the d-link is going to be my only option, unless you guys have any ideas?

Can I use any of the dropcam that nest have or are they running H264? I like the looks of them but I can't find any specs on them.

iCam Support / Any issues with 10.9.5 quitting
« on: October 08, 2014, 04:44:36 PM »
Is anyone having issues with iCamSource 2.7.2.2 quitting during use.

I have been running iCam for at least 4 years now without any issues.

The last few days I have come home and iCam is not running on my Mac. It seems to be just quitting. Nothing has changed apart from I did a 10.9.5 update when that was released. Thats the only thing that has changed on my system. My iMac is just running iCam and iTunes and thats it, it's left on 24/7

iCam Support / Feature request....
« on: September 01, 2010, 05:15:57 AM »
It would be nice to have EDIT in the saved recordings, it's nice to have delete all, but having an edit button then you can tap the ones to be deleted and press a delete selected.

It's ok to swipe to delete individual recording but when you may have 200 to review it's time consuming.

Thanks

iCam Support / DATA sent when in use...
« on: August 24, 2010, 07:23:13 PM »
When iCamSource is running is it sending any DATA over the internet if I'm not viewing it on my iPod?

The reason being I have been using iCam now for a few weeks and this month I have had a warning from my ISP that I have used 75% of my monthly DATA. Never had a warning before.

I can not see it being iCam as I only check it maybe 4-5 times a day when I'm at work

I assume it is not sending a constant stream of DATA unless I'm viewing it?
