ipCam Support / Trying to change port...!
« on: May 22, 2013, 03:08:27 PM »
Hi,

I managed to get the app set up great, first testing with the default port of 80. I turned off automatic forwarding as I use a firewall which doesn't support UPNP. I configured my port forwards in my firewall and router and I could then access my iPad's camera with my external IP address.

Then came the problem. Obviously I wanted to change from port 80 because it opens up all kinds of network vulnerabilities. I tried changing to 8094, by re-configuring my router and firewall and then replacing "80" with "8094" in the app. It didn't work.

I closed the app and opened it again, and the port had changed back to 80! It had remembered all my other settings, but not the port. Is this a bug? Currently I see no way to use any port other than 80 for external access since it just changes back when you open the app, and the only time the app attempts to configure itself with the port is when you first open it, there is no "reconnect" button.

Thanks in advance for your help on this  :)

Joseph.

Hi,

Reinstalling the app and rebooting my device has made the "Control" option appear! How bizarre! Thank you for your support - if I do find any anomalies I'll let you know!

Thanks again for a great app!  ;D

Hi,

So supported cameras differ from iOS to Android? None of the cameras that I can control on iOS can be controlled on Android - not a single camera has the "Control" option! I'm going to try reinstalling the app now, hopefully that should sort it out!

I'll get back to you if I get stuck again!

Hi!

I've been using iSpy on my iPad for a while now, and am hopelessly addicted to it. I've just bought the app from the Google Play store for my Nexus 7, but I can't find any button anywhere to allow camera control! I thought it would be in the same place it was on the iOS version (top right).

I'm probably just looking at it and not seeing it, if I am please put me right  ;D

Thanks!

Joseph.
