Title: Trouble viewing icam through isight when not at home wifi
Post by: mmmodo on August 23, 2010, 12:10:55 PM
I have no trouble viewing my isight camera while my computer is on my home wireless network. It works perfectly whether my iphone is on wireless or on 3G.

The trouble begins when I have my computer off-sight (i.e. hotel room or office) connected to another wireless network. The isight camera seems to kick in on the computer when I start icam, however, when I try to access it on my iphone (via 3G), it just keeps trying but never connects. On the computer, it shows that there is one connection as my iphone is trying to access. There is no error message... the wheels just keep turning, but with no success of showing a picture.

Before I purchased icam, I saw that others had done exactly this which is why I bought it.

Would love some help :)

Some public networks are more restrictive than others (especially at hotels) so if you have your computer running the iCamSource in your hotel room you may not be able to connect via 3G if the hotel's network is more complex or restrictive than most.

When I travel sometimes I can connect and sometimes I cannot. It really depends on how the hotel has their network setup. You can also try to connect your computer to any other nearby WiFi networks (if available) to see if you are then able to connect.
