iChatr Update Rejected

We had submitted an update to iChatr early last month to try and address the issue that had caused it to be removed from the App Store shortly after its release. The update was rejected earlier this week, and Apple’s newly-published App Store Review Guidelines seem to contain the reason why:

Apps that contain user generated content that is frequently pornographic (ex “Chat Roulette” apps) will be rejected.

Since iChatr cannot exist in its current state on the App Store we are going to be taking the servers offline while we try to determine possible ways to repurpose its technology.

UPDATE : We have brought the servers back online for the time being to conduct a more thorough test of the technology.

Anyone know of a jailbreak fix for ichatr on ios 4.3.1?

  2. iGolf says:

A lot of questions about 4.3 on here and no answers. Where are the Admins?

  3. admin says:

Since iChatr has been removed from the App Store we are not going to be able to publish an update that would fix the issues introduced by iOS 4.3

We currently have no plans to release an update outside of the official App Store as it would be in violation of our developer agreement with Apple.

Seems like you might want to update and let it slip out through Some site like Mediafire. You have some loyal followers. I’m going to rethink this iOS update as a result of this. And I guess it’s not something you can fix at the server level?

  5. iGolf says:

Or is there an easy fix via SSH?

  6. admin says:

We have not looked into the cause of the issues introduced by iOS 4.3 as we are not dedicating development resources to releasing an update to iChatr at this time.

I wish you would relase an update for this. I liked taking to people on here, but they can’t see me anymore. :-(

  8. s3ll1t says:

Any chance we’ll get iChatr for Android, since you already have another app on the Android Market.

  9. admin says:

It is possible, although we are not looking into developing one at the moment.

  10. iGolf says:

Is it just 4.3.1 or does it not work on 4.3 either?

  11. iGolf says:

Seems like it should be something we can fix through SSH or iFile.

  12. User says:

Pleeeeeeeease release an update. I can no longer see myself and chat with others. :-(

  13. iGolf says:

Is there any way I can install iChatr on my Jailbroken 3GS?

It’s not “iChatr updated” … We haven’t released any update to iChatr.

What you’re seeing is just iChatr that someone has submitted to Installous with a different name / icon / description.

Or does this somehow fix the issue introduced by iOS 4.3?

  18. correct says:

Admin is correct, and the app doesnt work.

  19. Ogmoney says:

Ya the chat roulette instalous One works, i just downloaded it. But the only three people i could connect to for more then a half a second were hairy dudes showing off their chodes. I have 4.2.1 btw

  20. iGolf says:

It does not fix the iOS 4.3 issue but it does work on lower versions and it allows you to install it on iPhone 3gs.
